Has anyone checked if Amazon will price match?

As a policy Amazon doesn't do price matches on a per purchase basis.

Underrated comment in regards to C5/G4 deals if that's what you want. Obviously it's going to be very hard to find a C in the $800 range (forget G and I don't want to hear again about that limed G3 deal that was not available everywhere and I checked right away from mid Atlantic) but if we are talking $1000 who knows maybe you find a C for that at Sams or something. Also who knows what the consumer electronics and economic situ will be like in the next year so there could always be a glut of stock (seems this is becoming less common).

That said I closely examined the 77 and 83 B4 at Costco and thought it was plenty bright under the extreme florescent lights in the warehouse so I assume it (and this) would be fine in most residential applications which are considerably more subdued, or for people who have effective blinds and no lamps on directly behind their seating. However some people really want brighter or think they need it so sure get a C5 or G4 if that describes you/your use case for daytime viewing. I had a plasma in my living room for the longest time in all of it's 140 nit fury and it did fine with blinds and light control. I don't watch much daytime TV though other than some football. Usually busy on weekend days. An OLED like this is more than fine IMO if you are doing most of your watching at night and turn off that annoying lamp behind you.

Then again how many of us need a new TV right now vs those that are kicking the tires and considering an upgrade. If you are just planning for a future upgrade then it makes sense to wait for at least a C5, except if you need DTS pass through. I use a receiver and will probably keep using an external streamer in the future so that is a lesser concern (most apps output DD or Atmos anyway). Some may want an ATSC 3.0 tuner too. So there are a couple of features that you may wish to have and that can/should influence what you get.

Honestly not even sure where they are seeing 65" C4 prices at $1000 unless it was some one off ymmv situation. Not a likely price for the masses. Maybe they meant the 55"?

It seems like this is the expectation now and I agree those YMMV closeout deals are not common or available to most. Especially here in the mid Atlantic. I guess there is the partner store deal for 1050ish if you get that and want to deal with them as a vendor, and the fact that you basically can't return it if it has bad banding as it technically 'works'. Or you pay 1200-1300 from a big box store where you can return it if needed.

Can you side-load android apps onto the FireTV OS this TV has? That was the primary draw for me on the Sony TVs being base Android TV, and I really do not want to use a TV without the SmartTube (ad-free Youtube) app.

Yes, its highly likely you can. Just get downloader app and google some downloader codes.

But, that's really not a reason to select a TV. Just got an ONN TV box for $20-$50 to complement whichever TV you get.

Just buy a Google TV streamer or Onn with Google TV

Apple TV 4K would like a word.

I also have an old Samsung plasma 58inch that I feel I don't need to replace, but this deal is almost too tempting. Am curious about how your new TV compares to your Samsung. In particular our living room is bright during the day, and the Samsung is watchable but it definitely degrades the experience. Wondering how the Panasonic compares in a bright room (and regular night viewing too).

It will be noticeably better. That plasma is both much dimmer and extremely reflective. If you've seen the B4 in Costco or wherever it going to be about the same brightness as that for SDR.

When it comes in I will let you know. My Samsung has not been used much as we do not watch tv very often and when we do it is usually at night so brightness is not an issue. I have several 4k players but the only 4k tvs are in my kids rooms so I have not been able to view my 4k discs etc in 4k. That being said my 58 inch Samsung plasma looks amazing still too me even after seeing my kids 4k tvs of which one is a Sony Oled.

Thanks! Guess I should go to Costco today and check it out. I definitely see their OLED tvs there being very bright, but my understanding was that they pump up all the brightness/contrast/etc in-store to make it look better.
