Solid starter kit but just save yourself the money new and just buy the RP set piece by piece as it goes on sale. All this set is going to make you want to do is spend more money upgrafing to better speakers lol.

Well, anyone considering this is probably concerned about quality and Rs are not good. They're better off getting 2 good fronts and a a sub. I would recommend RP-5000Fs ($500) and a RP-1000SW. This puts you right around $900 and will give you speakers that sound great, especially compared to these. You can always add a center and surrounds later. If your mom's anything like mine was, she's probably happy with anything you do for her. Enjoy every minute you have left with her. No one loves you like your mom.

Actually they are basically the same speaker, one is just built in. An advantage to the rp500sa & a better option is because they aren't built in. Instead of you moving your seating position, you can adjust the angle of the rp500sas. If you have the II's you can use them as height speakers also. You just have to make sure the frequency switch is in the correct position. Ultimately all those positions are just alternatives for people that can't/won't do overhead speakers.
I know... I have them....
Again.. i tried the 500sa as bouncy and didn't work. The built in ones did. When I say they didn't work i mean it sounded like there was a normal bookshelf on top my my tower pointed at me. Zero sound was coming from above. All the sound was directly coming at me. With the built in ones it worked. i guess because the speaker is recessed and the woofer/tweeter does not have a direct line of sight to my head like the one you can put on the top of another speaker. btw you don't have to have the II. You can use the original ones too as front heights or surround. They also have the switch.

I do not know anything about this system. How would it compare to say a Samsung Q990D?
It's better. q990d has the form factor. This is bulkier and the first time setup is harder. Need a ton more cables but overall a better system than soundbars

There are many factors to consider.
It's likely more because of the different environment, each is completely different.

Only got the 2 10"... added to the samsung q990c.

Wondering if i should dump 990c. So far it's working well at 80hz cutoff and gain of 5.

How dod you added the subs

Unscrew the 6 screws and tap the subwoofer by sending a speaker wire through the port. Use a line out convert. Unplugged the 990 subwoofer and just run off the klipsch.

May get the rel tiny sub to handle the other spectrum. 80hz on the klipsch is great, but could be better if it's set to 70hz or less.... but i'll need to fill the in between. The klipsch is too powerful to let it play the higher frequencies (rumbles).

I bought the exact kit three years ago from Adorama for $1199. I paired with Marantz and they sound OK. Those atmos sound reflection is bogus. Trust me on that. The speakers are heavy and nice looking but the package came (large speakers) in total destruction. One speaker corner ripped off and called Adorama and they offered some $100 refund or so.

If you're mainly streaming & the 990 is working well you might want to just stick to it imo.
Traditional speakers won't actually improve the inferior content by much if at all.

Not to mention to take advantage of a traditional setup, proper implementation is vital.
The quality of each of them matters quite a bit also.
You can't just stick a speaker in a room, unfortunately not that simple.

These "upfiring" designs are not ideal & can be a big challenge with proper implementation.

Could you give me specific klipsch rp models for towers, center, sub, and atmos to buy? Not budget but not top dollar. I'm tired of a sound bar but not educated enough to know what to buy. Ive seen you comment plenty on these threads on diff sound systems so I'm assuming you have a good deal of knowledge. Sorry to sound like a leech but wanted some good info. Thank you

Very broad question but I'll give it a shot from personal experience.

Only knowing/assuming you want to stick with Klipsch.

This is very general terms.
RP-8000f(L/R fronts)
RP-504c(center)
RP-1200/1400SW (subwoofer)
RP-600M(surrounds)
I would buy them in that order, piece by piece if you have to.

IF you want to upgrade to object based soundtracks(Atmos/DTS-X), 2 overhead pairs is mandatory imo.

Imo you would need to follow this layout to make the upgrade worthwhile. https://www.dolby.com/siteassets/...ounted.pdf

If you can then you can use Klipsch CDT-5800-C II for object based speaker placements.

If you can't or won't, in my experience I wouldn't bother with Atmos.
Especially how popular streaming has become, you really don't take full advantage of it with it anyways.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Thank you I really appreciate it. I just figured klipsch was the best bang for the buck to go but I'm open to other options

Now that's an exponentially broader question, opening up a major rabbit hole!

Sound is completely subjective, adding "best bang for the buck" makes it exponentially more complicated!

Unfortunately "best bang for the buck" varies wildly from person to person.
Which one applies to you, you would have to listen for yourself, not as easy as it use to be nowadays.

I'm coming from a mid tier sound bar. I'm not an audiophile so I'm easy impressed lol.
