Is this 2024 model but with 5060?
I want something portable so this might serve me better compared to heavy omen max. But saw fair amount of critical reviews about transcend lineup.

No, this is the 2025 model.
2024 was with the Intel Ultra series 1 processor, this is 2nd.

Thank you, is RAM still soldered on transcend? That would be only checkmark before I pull trigger

Yes, it is, which is to be expected in a 14" gaming laptop.

This overkill for office use, say for a physician? Looks like battery life will be good based on 71 Whr rating.

It's a gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU and OLED display, the battery life isn't going to be as good.
And yes, it would be overkill for that. Microsoft surface laptop 7 or 8 (latter being of this year's) would fit your needs.

Ok thank you. Hate not doing my own research but don't want to miss out on a good deal. I guess I'd prefer a 'good' screen if possible but I'll take a look at the Surface 8.

Surface 8 is newly released, so they are ridiculously expensive. Try looking at the 7. The display isn't bad; it's QHD+ IPS in a 3:2 ratio with 400 nits and 120Hz. Sure, it's not OLED, but it's one of the best displays in a pure productivity-based laptop.

Shame, would have copped this in heartbeat if it was 32gb or not soldered

Nvidia officially stopped making the XX40 series GPUs, but the XX60 series is the new XX40 series. Every modern Nvidia GPU is 1-2 tiers below the historical norm, as measured from the flagship. The 5080 is a 5070, the 5070 is a 5060, and soon Nvidia will launch the Super series with specs that the originals should have had.
