Good for Linux OS? I have been trying to have a Linux laptop for me for just productivity work and coding and 15.6" will be great.

I was really, really tempted by this. However, I hate the idea of not being able to replace the RAM if it goes bad, and also not being able to upgrade the RAM size if I find a great deal on memory. If you have soldered RAM and the memory has an issue develop, your whole system is hosed. If you have a dimm slot instead, then it is a $50 fix.

Do they often go bad? On last 15 years, never had one go bad in laptops owned. But these soldered ones are different.

It's still working for me. At the checkout page near the bottom at "Gift Cards and Coupons" I don't even have to enter the code, there's a checkbox to apply the code that I can select instead.

i've bought two acer refurbs and returned both because of bsods that would come up once a day. the return process was easy, but a waste of time. good luck to you if you buy this

Sorry to hear that. I'm actually posting right now from an Acer refurb (Nitro 17) and it's going strong for almost a year. Brother has an Acer Refurb too and he's been good for a few months. But you're right, it's kind of a shot in the dark but thankfully yes, they do take returns.

The most thorough way is to download Windows 11 to USB using the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and do a fresh install of Windows 11.

This is the best way because it also allows you to create a local account and not sign in with a Microsoft account (just google how to do this at the install stage, it's easy).

If you don't want to go through the hassle of doing that, just use the add/remove program feature in Windows and uninstall the Acer and other bloatware junk (like McAfee virus protection etc) manually.

Code expired for me too, I clipped the coupon code yesterday and saved the laptop in my cart, today the code was gone. I tried entering it again and it says code expired.
