Reading on a phone or tablet isn't even in the same ballpark as reading on eink. The reading experience is leaps and bounds better with eink.

Pretty good price for a color eink. I ended up going with a Boox Go Color 7 gen II. The reading experience is definitely better on kindles, but I like having the play store so I'm not limited to just Amazon. Also browsing the web and looking at discord and telegram is easier on the eyes at night before bed.

Should i trade in my oasis for this?

Unless you need color graphic books often, I would not.

They say they did, yes
They never fixed it because it is a hardware issue. They changed the entire screen color to a yellow tint to match the defect so you do not notice it. That is NOT a fix in my book.

Nice! You did the work! I love my Scribe... have you used one? What are you reading where you're appreciating the color?
You can't see it anymore because they changed the pure white screen in software to a slightly yellow-white background that matched the defective area so now you don't see the defect. The defect is still there.

In addition, they are not able to produce a 300dpi color screen at this price so they put a 150dpi color screen over the standard 300dpi B/W screen (which is why this is so expensive) so when you are not looking at color, the color screen stays blank, when it needs to produce colir somewhere on the screen, it show the color parts in 150dpi and the B/W parts show under the color screen in 300dpi. This is also why the screen does not appear as sharp as the paperwhite.

I heard the DPI resolution is not as good as Paperwhite.
B/W = 300dpi
Color = 150dpi

Color screen is layered on top of the B/W, the device has two separate screens, one on top of the other. They could not do 300dpi color yet. I'll wait for the 300dpi color version which I'm betting will be coming on the next model. Then you will be able to get a ton of these defective ones on Woot for about $59 Smilie

Anyone who has traded an Oasis for anything has come to regret it (me included). I traded in an Oasis for a Colorsoft a while ago, regretted it, then rebought the Oasis refurbished from Woot. It arrived in mint condition.

I say get the Colorsoft for the color and keep the Oasis.

In bright light I agree, but indoors or at night I actually prefer a nice OLED screen with sepia font and black background vs e-ink with the entire screen lit up via front-light.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
The Issue:

Some Kindle ColorSoft devices exhibited a yellow band along the bottom of the screen, affecting the overall display quality.

Amazon's Response:
Instead of a hardware replacement or recall, Amazon has adjusted the color profile of the device's screen.

Software Adjustment:
The color temperature of the screen is shifted towards a cooler, bluer tone, making the yellow tint less apparent according to some users.

Impact:
While this approach may reduce the visibility of the yellow band, some users have reported that the overall screen appears slightly darker.
