It's really simple to get a different number, text MINC to 611611 and change it. It's not a TF problem (Verizon goes through a lot of numbers) it can happen with any provider.

Anyone know if the bootloader can be unlocked on this?Motorolas seem to be hit or miss, but the Moto Stylus 5G (2023) I got from Boost last year was bootloader unlockable after the phone was SIM unlocked (180 days back then).Blah blah blah, no one roots phones...except people like me who prefer AdAway to VPN-based solutions (because I have need to use a real VPN on a regular basis) and like unlimited Google Photos without the annoying caveats of non-root solutions.

I almost made that mistake.
Thankfully I noticed that before I ordered it.
Ordered the QVC offering from this Slickdeals offer.

Just ordered the 64GB.

WELCOME20 still works. Been doing these for years.

Thanks!

My strategy through the years has been to call TF and have the CSR activate the new phone with my existing phone's number. That adds the minutes to the existing account. Several days later I call TF and ask them to xfer my account back to my old phone since I like the old phone better. I've never had a problem with that strategy. It could probably be done online but I'm hesitant in case something goes haywire and I don't want to risk losing my number in the process.
I had a big issue last week trying to do this and apparently it isn't possible to combine account balances anymore or the 6 times I tried I got unlucky. They also lost my balance and I had to spend several hours going back and forth and only ended up with about half of the minutes I had before I started, with screenshots.

You're lucky, then. A lot of people can't get the welcome discounts to work more than 1 or 2 times because whatever QVC and HSN use to filter out abuse of it works pretty well. You could use a different credit card and email address, but the billing and shipping address would likely be the same as previous purchases, wouldn't it?

What do you do after the year is over? You have to renew at full price to keep the phone number?

You either purchase more time or buy another one of these deals. Just activate new phone & choose keep current number, balance carries over and combines with new service.
(There are lots of previous TF deals on SD with plenty of info about how TF works, these bundles are always available on QVC and HSN).

What's all the trial stuff under "important details" or whatever, like…

"LiveOne Plus 1-Year Membership

Important Note: After your 1-year trial, you will be enrolled in a membership for $35.88 per month…"

Are you slammed into those or do you need to activate the trials? That is will I have five trials to turn off or can I ignore all that?

I WAS a tracfone customer for a very long time. My minutes were wiped out TWICE. First time, they corrected the balance with a very long ordeal of phone calls to them. Agents are very hard to understand with thick accents. Then, it happened again a month later with my phone being turned off. I was told I used up all my mins, text, and data. I had about 3000 mins left .

The lower level agent actually chatted with another employee while I was talking . I was told there were no known issues by lower level agent. Then, I spent several hours on the phone with upper level customer service after filing a FCC complaint. She confirmed that there were problems with the same thing happening to others. You can google disappearing tracfone minutes, etc.

Bottom line is because I had no screen shots of my account, I lost half of my saved mins, text, data. I kept getting told that was what I had under the plan I used to activate the phone. The standard 1500 Talk/Text /data deal. I had been rolling minutes for years and years, but they had no record of that. This was the first time I can remember in 45 years of talking to various customer service areas that I got fed up and said, " This is bull----"

I walked away from Tracfone leaving them with my minutes, texts, data. I did not want to risk another turned off phone incident. I switched to Tello for 10.00 a month. Unlimited mins and texts. Minimum data under that plan, but that works for me. You can also switch phones all you want, as long as they are compatible with Tello. Just move the sim card over. I'm using my last motorola tracfone with Tello now .

I am not sure of this, but I've read in other threads that some have said that the recent change is that the 1yr/1500/1500 does not count as paid service, but instead is promotional credit. If that is true, then does it not essentially become 1yr + 60 days with this deal?
This guy apparently recently unlocked using a 1 year bundle - https://www.reddit.com/r/TracFone...ay_unlock/

I believe FCC rules enforce 1 year max unlock time on all carriers except Verizon which is forced into a 60 day unlock. The promotional credit stance doesn't make sense since promotional credit typically sounds like something you can use to extend service or get extras, not to activate.

There is a postcard with information to sign up. Just throw it away. You have to sign up for the trial separately.

Deal is ok if you need it now. Sometimes they sell the 64gb phones in a 2 pack for like $80. Agree this is for low data users, others get one with 24gb unlimited talk as extra data and min/txt is expensive on its own
