You can use the USB port. They can both do 2k at 60 fps but with HDR off. The A229 is larger on the front but smaller for the rear.

Yes, you can rename it. They also have different wifi names.

Yes, also in TX and use a sunshade. No problems with the TX heat. I had a problem with the white screen of death but that was in the Winter. This was rare for the A119 mini 2.

I actually have the opposite recommendation, leave the sounds and voice on. Once, the USB cable was loose and I didn't hear it come on. Another time, my memory card was bad so I didn't hear it say, "recording started". If I didn't have the sound and voice on, I would have not known my camera was still off or not recording to the memory card.

4K is more prone to failure than 2K due to more heat. Just search for viofo 4k failure.

Strange how there's no viofo A329 models on amazon, yet they have them on viofo's website.

I've had mine up since dec 2024, no issues here in DFW area.

Also bought the polarized lenses for the front camera which helps reduce glare quite a bit.

Been thinking about getting a dashcam since I got my new car. Ended up picking up an A229 Plus 3 Channel. Took the bundle with the wiring kit and microSD card. And threw in the CPL filter.

Here's hoping it lasts for the life of the car.

Not unless you rigged up a screen that connects to the camera over wifi, to display it while you are backing up.

FYI for those who want to do an OBD II hardwiring, I just emailed Viofo a few days ago and they responded with:
"Dear customer,
Thanks for contacting us.
Our OBDII car charger will probably be available next month, you can kindly subscribe our official website first.
If you use a third-party OBD cable, the camera may turn on normally but the parking mode may not be available."

My VIOFO T130 2 Channel lasted me about 2 years exactly right after the warranty expired.. costed me $180. Tried submitting ticket to VIOFO to see what they could do but in the end seems like hardware failure, nothing they could do since out of warranty. Decided to give VIOFO another shot and bought the A229 Plus 1 CH for $129 last Black Friday. Seems to be working fine for now. Hope it last more than 2 years.

Do you use a sun shade and park outside? My Blackvue DR750X died in under 3 years in Texas, but I park in the sun and use a sun reflector shade on the windshield. Blackvue cannot handle the heat
Yes, park outside for work and have a sunshade. I also have window visors and keep my windows cracked, which helps tremendously with heat. Plus ceramic tinted front window.
The rest of the time garage kept.

I did hardwire my dashcam to an accessory fuse to go off once my vehicle does to reduce battery drain.

Found out my usb ports stay on for quite awhile after vehicle is off (around an hour).

If I were to buy the A229 plus 2 channel version, do I need to buy the hardwire kit? I assumed it was included but can't tell for sure.

random chinese brand
Viofo is actually a very well-established Dashcam brand, and is one of the best in the covert dashcam category.

I've been using Viofo dashcams for almost 10 years and I've only had one break on me and their customer service sent me a refurbished unit.

I've also been using this one for the past year and I bought it at the same price same time last year.

This unit has excellent video quality and has many bells and whistles that can be useful if you need it.

Buy it if you want something to just plug and forget for a year or two.

Yes, you would need to buy the bundle with a hardwire kit like this one for $180

These just plug into a USB port in your car. If your car turns off the USB port when it turns off, the dashcam will turn off too. You'll need a hardwire kit to connect it to your car's interior fuse box or a battery pack if you want to keep it on when the car's off.

Can anyone suggest a decent hardwire kit for it?
