Wish they had a deal like this last summer when I actually needed this! Pretty crazy how much this dropped off since the 128GB DIMMs came out earlier this year.
Now if only the same could be said for some 96GB+ ECC DIMMs...

is mobo also a limiting factor? the laptop i chose says it only supports up to 2x32gb but the chipset theoretically allows for up to 128gb or more
The CPU is the limiting factor. Look up your CPU on the manufacturer website to see the real max RAM.

Most do. You can look up the manufacturer product page for your CPU to check the max RAM supported. For example, the Intel core ultra 9 285hx supports up to 256GB DDR5 RAM. https://www.intel.com/content/www...tions.html The AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D supports up to 96GB DDR5 RAM.https://www.amd.com/en/products/p...5hx3d.html

What laptops out there accept 96gb ddr5?
Framework 13 and 16 AMD boards do. In my case, I'm on the Framework 16.

You're up to server levels of memory at this level. Crazy to see that packed onto SODIMMs for laptops and mini-PCs. I guess if you run a bunch of VMs on your laptop/MiniDT, this would be quite handy. That, or you do some incredibly resource intensive video work.

For everyone else... You're unlikely to see a benefit past 32GB.

Overall, great deal if you need that much RAM.

I have Dell Latitude 5450 laptop with - Intel Core Ultra 7 165U and 16G RAM (2x8G)

Will this work?

Why there is no deal on 32G (2x16) and 64G (32x2) kits

Lol how many people in this thread are all about this just to see a higher number in their specs? I would LOVE to see some screenshots of this type of config in real time use and associated purposes. Spoiler Alert: 99% will be wasting money...

Why the heck do you need 96GB of Ram on a laptop? Are we using laptops as servers now? What am I missing? 16 GB of Ram stills suffices to this day on 80% of tasks.

I have a legion 7i pro laptop and people had been saying it can take up to 96gb of ram with recent BIOS updates. Only issue was that, for some reason, with this particular ram, at least a couple of people reported temps getting up >110C and not triggering normal alerts to throttle itself and whatnot. Not seen with the 64gb kingston upgrade. Same guy reviews/talks about it in amazon reviews and reddit, with 1 other person confirming on reddit. I'd be curious if others can get this and check with HWinfo64 or other tools to see how hot it gets. I like the idea of 96gb (both because it is just a ton, but realistically for virtualization and things of this nature). Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there. For what it's worth, my laptop spec sheet says 32gb max, but it turns out the CPU and architecture supports up to 96gb, albeit at a slower speed (i think 5200 instead of 5600). To each their own. If you bought it/own it, please check temps and let us know! Smilie

It's crazy to see this price 3 months. Now it's over $400+. I'm upset I missed this deal. Frown

This would be perfect for a minipc.

Any possibilities this price will come back during Black Friday deal?

If Apple didn't use soldered memory I'd likely be using:

- 2x64GB 128GB DDR5-5600Mhz SO-DIMM for $280 on my $2499 MBP 16" M5 Pro 24GB 512GB
- 4x64GB 256GB DDR5-5600Mhz SO-DIMM for $560 on my $2299 iMac 32" 6K M5 Pro 24GB 512GB
