I bought 3 of these. 1 had a broken hose bracket, another was missing accessories and stuff to install it, another one failed 4 days before the 90 day return period. Returned all 3 of them. Like the other poster said, it's Russian roulette.

My unit shows: On full cooling load, 1200-1300 watts. On fan only, about 150-200watts. The game changer is duo hose. Most affordable non-inverter units are single-hose, that create negative pressure that draws air from any leak spot from outside. Dual hose design has the most efficiency gain. If your area is very hot, the unit is running non-stop to keep up the cooling demand, then inverter does not save much. But if your area is mostly 80-85F outside, then the inverter is mostly running on low speed (also quieter), then a non-inverter (constant speed compressor) is less efficient.

I bought it over 3 months ago for $249. I know it's like Russian roulette when you get the box. in my case it the AC looks brand new never been used+with all the accessories. it's been running in the room above the garage since last month non-stop. you can buy the extended warranty 3 or 5 years for $35 I think.

The big problem with units like these is that people people fark them up the very first time they use them, potentially causing irreparable damage with long-lasting consequences.

The main thing is that these types of AC units cannot be positioned in any way other than perfectly upright. If they get tilted on their side or anything like that then you must sit them upright and make sure that all the fluid inside settles drains back down by waiting 24-48 hours. The box is huge, heavy, and awkward. I'll bet a lot of people buy one and just fling it sideways into the back of their SUV before setting it up immediately once they get home.

I don't think this is accurate, although I could be wrong. Yes hot air rises, but it doesn't make the a larger room (larger due to high ceilings) easier to cool. AC/Cooling is an extraction of heat, not an adding of cold. That warm air will eventually blend somewhat and bring the overall room temperature up.

Even though I have an Central HVAC in my condo, I'm getting this because I'm in my room doing work and sleeping 80% of the time. Can save close to a $1000 yearly. So I'm in.

Based on what everyone is saying, when I get it, I'm just going to let it sit up right for 48 hours. I bet that's a big source of lot of the problems/errors people are getting.

Does anyone use any aftermarket window vent kit with better seal/insulation than the one provided by Midea? Willing to spend a few bucks on a real good one that could add to this unit's efficiency.

You can buy foam board insulation at Home Depot for pretty cheap. I will say that it is a complete mess when you cut it though and you need to then tape the seams. You can get the lower r value one in a 4x8 sheet for a 10 bucks and double up the thickness. Make sure you have duct tape though. Alternatively a cheap camping sleeping pad similar to a yoga mat would work.

I know it's convenient, but a 120v heater is always max 1500w (theoretical outlet limit is 1800w but never seen one over 1500w.) it's essentially a controlled short circuit. Can be had for $30 or less online. As the saying goes though, it's "something else to break." 1500w going through this controlled short puts a lot of stress on the electrical components meaning more chance of it breaking something. So instead of being out $30 you're out a $200+ unit. So having them separate is better in the long run. Also allows you to put away the unit in the winter and close your window to minimize cold air coming in.
