I recently replaced one of my fire tablets that I run Home Assistant dashboard with a TBSPG100110027. The specs are slightly different than this one, but it runs a HA dashboard way better than a fire tablet.

There's an XDA thread on rooting this tablet, if that's of interest to folks.

I had the first gen of the Onn 10' Pro it had minimal bloat, it was good for a streaming apps like ReVanced YT + music apk, PurpleTV for twitch, and manga reader. Disable Chrome, install Firefox with Ublock Origin extension .

Tip: Turn off window and transition animations in developer options (tap build to unlock developer options) to make it feel less sluggish.

and lose the ability to root.
Yeah if this is something you care about, double checking the old thread:
https://slickdeals.net/f/17902206-refurbished-128gb-onn-11-wifi-tablet-pro-w-4gb-ram-android-13-grey-2023-59-free-shipping

That refurb is the exact same model that's now $100 new, and Slickdealers were unable to get it to root afaik. There's no seperate root guide for that model and the xda thread in the wiki calls out the 2023 11" model as unable to be rooted.

There's a 2024 11" pro model that has an xda thread for rooting:
https://xdaforums.com/t/aio-guide...i.4709806/

But that model is $157:

This has a build in GPS support, Amazon tablets do not.
Where do you see that? I see nothing advertising that on Walmarts page.

Warning: Onn tablets do NOT let you use an SD card as 'default storage', nor does it let you move apps to the SD card. I found this out the hard way.
You can manually move/copy things to the SD card, but it will NOT let the SD be 'default' for anydamnthing.

Hit the "View all specications" link. Scroll down, and you'll see "Features" followed by "GPS Enabled".

Since it has GPS, wonder if it's a good choice to install in older car as dedicated Google Map navigation... Thoughts anyone?

I needed something to watch YouTube and Twitch on. This should work fine. Hopefully not too much bloat.

Well then there is the 20% trade in to get that fire tab making it a really close call, but who know if Vega is coming to a tablet near you.

My kids have used fire tablets for years. Always seemed like a no brainer with trade ins and sales.

Recently side loading has become a chore, seems like something is always getting messed up. Overall the bloat on the fire tablets is increasing.

For $50 each, this is worth a try, I'd prefer Samsung but 3 tablets for the price of one. If they work as well as a fire tablet, this will last them a few years.

it will work, size may be little big. Also you may need a hotspot.

Figured I can tether using my phone for data usage. Also, I think Google Maps now offer offline map usage?

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7. Besides the obvious screen size, would this tablet be a worthwhile upgrade for performance? I find the A7 very slow. Basically just use it to watch movies on trips at this point.

That's pretty typical for the android phones that I owned. I don't really care as there are plenty of internal storage for Apps. As far as I am concerned, SD card should be used exclusively for media. I don't want any App to stop working because anything happened to the SD card.
