I recently replaced one of my fire tablets that I run Home Assistant dashboard with a TBSPG100110027. The specs are slightly different than this one, but it runs a HA dashboard way better than a fire tablet.

There's an XDA thread on rooting this tablet, if that's of interest to folks.

I had the first gen of the Onn 10' Pro it had minimal bloat, it was good for a streaming apps like ReVanced YT + music apk, PurpleTV for twitch, and manga reader. Disable Chrome, install Firefox with Ublock Origin extension .

Tip: Turn off window and transition animations in developer options (tap build to unlock developer options) to make it feel less sluggish.

How many years of security updates will android 13 receive? Google says three years and it looks like Android 13 was release in August 2022.
If this was a google device... then I would say right on.
BUT updates are not based on the OS it is 100% based on the manufacturer. And Onn is notorious (Walmart) for not providing proper support.
Walmart has created a CHEAP CHEAP tablet to compete with Fire tablets. And Walmart has their own bloatware installed on every Onn (currently not as bad as Amazon's).
You can not buy this tablet and expect any updates.

what makes it better than hd10? honest question, i have 3 refurb hd10s that i use for HA.
What model Fire HD10, but if it is 2020 or newer... your tablet is MUCH FASTER.
The real issue is people don't know how to use a super weak tablet....
  1. Keep apps to a minimum
  2. run the app, "killsapp" every day after you start your tablet... may run two or three times. You get this app from the play store.
  3. keep tabs to a minimum on your browser.
  4. You need to use Firefox and install Ublock Origin as a browser extension. This will make your browser run MUCH better... faster and no popups.
    SO THIS IS A START.
But realize that you should do this with weak tablets but don't buy one THIS weak.
AGAIN, the CHEAPEST tablet to buy is the Lincplus T3.

Just purchased the REDMAGIC ASTRA GAMING TABLET!!! Can't wait to get it.
And when you say you are correct... is that based on anything besides being prejudice to Chinese companies?

It's based on outdated versions of Android not getting security updates. It's based on facts. Enjoy your spyware and by all means enter your banking information.

I think its on Android 14 actually....

I just received it a couple days ago and it's on 13 only.
I'm pretty impressed for what I'm getting in terms of speed and display. obviously I have to get used to it being much slower than my usual flagship android phones.

weird, I bought this tablet for a dedicated HA dashboard but it ended up being close to unusable. About to return it but wondering if I can tune the tablet a bit to free up some ram?

Anybody have this and the Metro Samsung A tablet who can comment on which is better in real life usage?
I don't have this tablet but did take advantage of the Metro Samsung A9+ deal and it's an excellent media tablet, SoC wise the Samsung is 2-3x faster than this Onn tablet.

Would this be a good tablet to run emulators for old school systems? (snes, n64, etc.)

This arrived last night. It is way better than I expected. Mostly using it to watch videos in bed before sleeping. Responsive enough and sturdier feeling than I would have expected for 50. Thinking about a second for the kitchen. Way more flexible than the 10 inch Fire devices we have used for years.

Link is in the wiki. I'd read through the whole thread first:

Others in this thread have mentioned that you can root this tablet, but does anyone know what the custom ROMs are like for this tablet? Are there any decent ones? I just want a clean android with zero bloatware for reading e-books. My eyesight is going bad, haha
There's a link to the XDA thread in the wiki (or the post above this), but as far as flash-ready custom roms (i.e. you don't kneed to do any tweaking/guesswork) there isn't anything major. Mainly instructions are for just rooting it and that's it. More popular models get that kind of stuff.

Not only does it run Android 13, it runs *the latest* Android 13!

Will it run Android 16 (2025)?
