Keep in mind that UL certification means nothing as far as product performance. It's purely safety related and since this unit is low voltage powered and the CT's are split core, there is not interaction with any system voltage apart from measuring voltage and the magnetic field around your wires. It's like installing a bunch of clamp meters on the circuits and having a multimeter measuring voltage on one circuit to perform the power calculations. While UL is always a must for systems powered by AC voltage, it's not as critical for a low voltage system like this this.
The Vue 2 and 3 units flashed to ESPHome have been bulletproof for me. I actually just decommissioned my iotawatt in favor of more emporia units to have more expansion ability.

Sense doesn't have circuit sensors, so you won't have that level of granularity for energy monitoring. Also, requires using their app and relying on cloud data (not sure if they have home assistant integration). If Sense were to go out of business, you would potentially lose all your historical data.
However, sense is UL certified, and I know my solar installer offers installing it for my system (where-as they won't install anything else).
Emporia Vue is also another option and should be UL certified. Works with Home Assistant but cloud only unless you flash the firmware

What do you do with the information you collect with this? This looks like more that than a 1 time use to find an appliance consuming too much power.
If you like to have historical data (whole house energy consumption, solar generation) this helps you collect the information for that.
While you can use their third party app, I'm personally more interested in storing that data locally via home assistant (server local in your home) and avoiding having my data on the cloud all together. You can view historical data (charts) in home assistant dashboard on your phone or PC (browser).
No matter how I look at this I simply cannot see why I would need a thing like this. I cannot imagine myself checking the app to see what rooms consume more electricity compared to others. Just turn the damn lights off if you're not in the room. Those of you who already have a similar device, how did your life improve after installing it? Just curious

I have a similar product (sense) and it helps me identify what devices are using too much power, notification if it stops working like a freezer, surge notifications, solar info, etc. There's all kinds of uses but I try to keep my energy under a certain amount otherwise I pay almost double.

It can help you identify potential problems with well pumps, septic, water heaters, etc that would otherwise be difficult to pinpoint when they're malfunctioning.
I bought mine to track why my energy usage was high and I have it send me notifications when something has been left on and running for awhile like when someone forgets to turn off the base board heat.

So my bill shot up about $10 a day now that we're in the heat of summer. I've switched my pool pump to running at night, tweaked my 3 ecobees that control a damper system, and discovered my hybrid water heater had a bad thermoresister. That's not running any lights during the day. All appliances just sucking power. I'm already saving over $10 a day. This is why a system that can tell you how much a circuit is running you can identify and tweak.
My 4000+sqft house has over 60 breakers on 400 amps of service.
Go ahead and turn off a LED light and see how much electricity I save...
