It connects to a shopvac, I highly recommend people to attach it to a shopvac for a reduced dust environment! I couldn't have bought this quick enough!

This price isnt that crazy it was floating around 250 for ages. Id been pondering this and the larger drywall sander for the better part of a year. The drywall sander never hit a price I wanted and seems they've all but removed it, save for some refurbished units
I take it you're referring to the GTR55-85. Lowe's has been selling it for $400 when they stock it, and HD matches that. But when Lowe's was out of stock, HD's price was fluctuating from $400 to $500.
I had been watching for that sander, and managed to get it for $324 at Acme Tools when they were running a couple of promotions about three weeks ago. So it does go on sale, just have to watch for it.

So, so tempted. Kicking myself for just buying a basic 5" Ridgid a month or so ago.
you really need 2 sanders (at least haha) anyway. this thing is great for hogging out larger areas with like 40 grit. its big, so i don't use it as much as a palm sander. I have an older one without the big handle, but its the same other than that. does work well

I mostly used his thing for refinishing hardwood floors. I rented an edger for a day than, cleaned it up with this. also good for refinishing old painted surfaces. use paint stripper, then hit it with this. you won't be replacing a palm sander with this...too heavy and bulky. but it gets the job done fast. palm sander for finish work, this for the first pass

Stopped using mine as it would shock me even with the supposed anti-static hose adapter. Also had a surging issue as the static would build. Maybe I got a bad one, but I would not recommend this sander.
