If you have DJI cameras, like the Osmo Pocket 3 or Action, the biggest benefit of these over something like the Hollyland Lark is that you can pair the DJI mics to your camera without the receiver and get high quality audio. It's like the AirPods/iPhone combo—you turn them both on, take the transmitter out of the case, and you're ready to roll. It's very convenient and why I ditched my Rode Wireless Go 2s for DJI mics.
You do not want to use these with an iPad or cell phone without connecting the receiver to your device first. It's a near-requirement for usable audio. So while you can connect the transmitters to your phone with bluetooth, there's no point in doing it without the receiver because it sounds absolutely terrible without the receiver.
If you're looking at this for an iPad or iPhone setup, but you don't want to connect the receiver every time, you'd be better off doing a voiceover directly into your phone or using a cheap wireless mic that plugs into your iPad or phone compared to using either the Mic 2 or Mic Mini without the receiver. If you plug the receiver into your device, and THEN connect to your transmitters, it works well like you'd expect.
This is a great deal, but the Mic Minis are also generally a great deal for very similar audio quality.
