Also 7% cashback with the Prime Visa if selecting no rush shipping at checkout. Got one a couple hours ago. Great deal. This model is the most well rounded Zojirushi for the price: made in japan, has induction and all the useful modes (GABA..)

so from my experience, the most notable benefit of induction heating for rice cookers is speed. This typically isn't that big of a deal (or doesn't matter at all) to me because I often set up my rice well in advance and use the timed cook function. However, it's really nice when I forget or don't plan ahead and want to use the "quick" cook setting. Shaving off a few / several minutes ends up being a significant amount of the total cook time since it's a short cook anyway.

Is it critical? I don't think so. Is it nice? every once in a while, yes.

Don't buy this model -- huge downgrade in quality from the last version. Bought it to upgrade and it broke within 6 months. Warranty is garbage too; instead of handling it directly they are having me go through an out of state shop for repairs.
