Samsung phones are such a mixed bag now. Great software and updates for years, but absolutely stagnant hardware.
I think you may have that backwards, great hardware but stagnant software?

Here's my take as an actual owner of the phone who purchased it at launch.
The weight and thinness difference cannot be overstated. The feel in your hand is markedly different.
Yes, the battery doesn't last as long under continual use but I'm seated at a desk enough that I can plug it in for fifteen minutes and get enough juice to get through the whole day.
I'm 5'6" and bulky phones have always looked goofy in my pocket. The S25 Edge is barely noticable.
I don't take a ton of high res photos or videos so I'm indifferent on camera differences.
It's my favorite phone I've owned (previously had S22 ultra and regular s series before)

I tried an open box from BB. The battery on this thing is trash.

Handled it in person at a Galaxy store; same dimensions as my S24+ except maginally thinner and much worse battery life from what I've read, not sure the point.
Same size as the S24+, but has the S25 Ultra camera with the weight of an S24/S25. It's perfect for me since the Ultra is just too big.
The S24/S25 camera is good in daylight but falls apart in low light.

This is true for most products and services that starts reaching maturity - the incremental improvements end up being marginal. This is why the keep introducing differentiated products like the Z fold 7 series for example, or even the apple vision pro

Got it from samsung.com when it launched. Paid $600 (512gb) with s22 Ultra trade in. One thing I really love about this phone is how light (168g) this phone is.. it does not strain your wrist nor your pinkie when you use it in one hand. Battery life is not great but not terrible either. I would wait for the price to come down bit more.

Oneplus has great hardware, but Oxygen OS has been trash for a lot of people. especially with their nightmaric notification issues, the infamous green/yellow lines on screen, and terrible CS.

don't get me wrong, oneplus phones are solid enough, but they have their own plethora of issues

You probably handled it connected to a wire + security device. I have the majority of the s24 and s25 series devices. All of them sit unused since I got the edge.

First actual phone Samsung has made that isn't a retread since the S22 series.

I can see a market for them, but not an overly huge one, since most customers prefer function over form.

But there's those that value the lightest possible phone with the most power available.

This is the price point where this phone becomes viable, although I tend to agree there will be deeper price cuts to come. But they may take a while.

The edge is awesome! It has never not lasted a full day for me. This is the price everyone was cheering for when it came out so now is your chance.

no. it's basically an S25+ with a weaker battery, weaker camera and a much thinner frame. it's basically a phone no one asked for lol
it has better camera at 200mp, its great for people who dont really use the zoom function but wants a phone thats light and as powerful as a 25ultra.

I love the s25 ultra but its to heavy for me and i rarely use the zoom and i have chargers whereever i go at work and home so battery is non issue

The weight is perfect, its like using a iphone mini on a frame of a s25+ but power and camera(main lens) of s25 ultra.

but yes, its an absolute niche product for VERY specific crowd like me.
