I usually avoid the ROG models but Merlin does list this one as supported so maybe worth a look.

Purchased for 200$ in 2023 i think.... excellent router. Supports IOT WIFi, Kids WiFi and regular stuff.

You can also use DNS blockers with this.. makes it easier to block bad sites, scheduling, etc.

Prime Resale means used, so who knows what's wrong with it. Maybe it's new overstock sold as open box, but maybe it somehow has flakey WiFi and was returned but passed whatever test they do, if any.

I've had two of these with Merlin firmware for a 2-3 years now. They've been pretty solid, great coverage, great wifi speeds.

The only complaint is the AI Mesh doesn't work as well (or at all maybe) on merlin as stock.

I grabbed 3 of the ax86u pros from resale as well. Debating on doing these instead because of the 2.4 GHz issues reported but not sure it's worth the hassle.
Thoughts? (going to use stock firmware)

Fantastic router, reliable and with a greater range than other routers that I had used. Unless you absolutely need a 6Ghz network, I highly recommend this one, especially at this price.

Cancelled my ASUS RT-AXE7800 order. This appears to be considered a better router and has Merlin support.

I've had issues with mine over the last couple years, from the NAS usb function just tanking the network to the point of needing reset to other issues.

At these price points, you can go ubiquiti router and unify APs for not much more for insanely better product

I returned mine. Definately was used, but like new condition. It was behaving odd. Higher pings and slower upload speeds. No matter what I changed the upload speed remained very low. Went back to my old companion Asus RT-AC68U, and everything is blazing fast
