Google Voice is simply a free service where you have your own phone number that you give to everyone. It can run from a phone, tablet and/or computer. You can call and text from that number using only data, and nobody has any idea that it's not your actual phone. The "base number" is your cell phone's actual number that you wouldn't need to use at all, so it wouldn't matter if it changed.

I've done this for years because my employer provides me a cell phone but I wanted to keep my personal number separate. So I ported it to GV and have the best of both worlds using the same phone. If I leave this company, my GV number is unaffected. It also works great when in a foreign country because you only need a WiFi connection to use your GV service as if you were at home.

going on 1.5 yrs with US Mobile, signed up me and wife for 180 each (no other fees) for 1st year and kept us the same rate for 2nd year. Highly recommend US Mobile. We got free text and phone and no throttle back on data.
Do they automatically keep you on that same price the second year, or did you have to do the retention call shenanigans?

Does Mint mail you a sim card ?? and how long does it take if they do ?

I have been using Mint for a couple years and it seems to work fine , 3 month deals and a new number each 3 months , its for my 2nd phone anyway and I am only using 5-10 GB a month

As an existing customer, You have to call, ask for Customer Retention, and ask for this deal.
How does it work if you already have an active plan? I just reupped my 5GB annual plan like a month ago. Will they prorate it and then I get a new year starting now with unlimited?

Had Mint for about 5 years and while it was fine, I switched to Infimobile which has been about the same as Mint except much cheaper. However, my year at $99 for 10 gb is up in Sept and the renewal at Infimobile for the 10 gb is $252 so it looks like I might head back to Mint again.

I called and asked last month when my 12 month was up ( even asked nicely). Mint said pay the current rates or f@@k off. Switched to US mobile since and am loving it

It's a pakistani firm. Do you trust your data to a foreign country?
The founder of the company was born in Pakistan, but the company US Mobile itself has a headquarter is in NY.

Their customer support centers are located in Pakistan, but it's not a 3rd party call center, they are all in-house employees of US Mobile.

the previous time I used this deal (not counting the $45 credit from AMEX, usually happens around Black Friday) I called at the end of my plan to port out and they offered me one year of unlimited at $90
Dang that's a good deal. But what if my parents just renewed couple of months ago.

Mint is a good carrier. They are using T-Mobile network. Amazing 5G coverage and speed up to 700Mbit. Got deal in December $180/12 months unlimited. Satisfied 100%.
Where do you live? The fastest speeds I got were 100ish MBs. And that's on 5G in the DFW

South California, 5G speed is quite high. But depends on area where you live. In some areas only LTE or no coverage at all Smilie
