Google Voice is simply a free service where you have your own phone number that you give to everyone. It can run from a phone, tablet and/or computer. You can call and text from that number using only data, and nobody has any idea that it's not your actual phone. The "base number" is your cell phone's actual number that you wouldn't need to use at all, so it wouldn't matter if it changed.

I've done this for years because my employer provides me a cell phone but I wanted to keep my personal number separate. So I ported it to GV and have the best of both worlds using the same phone. If I leave this company, my GV number is unaffected. It also works great when in a foreign country because you only need a WiFi connection to use your GV service as if you were at home.

Mint is a good carrier. They are using T-Mobile network. Amazing 5G coverage and speed up to 700Mbit. Got deal in December $180/12 months unlimited. Satisfied 100%.
Mint is owned 100% by T-Mobile

FWIW: when I got Xfinity for my home internet they did unlimited mobile plan for free for the first year. My total I pay each month including taxes, router, everything $55.00. YMMV.

comes out to $206.55 for me which is $16.87/month. not too bad. how long do you have to activate it? think i heard 60 or 90 days before?
If you get a pSIM (physical) you have 45 days to activate, an eSIm would activate immediately. And for other folks wondering, to be considered a "new customer your number can't have been active on the Mint network for 90 days.

Did anyone use this offer from Paypal? I magically got an email yesterday. I had my son open a new Paypal account today but for some reason payment method failed to go through at checkout.

The founder of the company was born in Pakistan, but the company US Mobile itself has a headquarter is in NY.

Their customer support centers are located in Pakistan, but it's not a 3rd party call center, they are all in-house employees of US Mobile.
Does it matter if it's in-house employees or 3rd party? It's still located in Pakistan, and who knows what security protocol, if any, they have in place to protect your data.

Just know that if you pass that data threshold, the service is unusable. I did speed tests and it was as slow as modem speeds.

I hit it last fall when I was streaming all our little league games (about 3-4 gb per game) ended up switching to Visible and never looked back
No one could ever use that much data in a month. Unless they were streaming moon landings from a Nevada dessert.

eSIM doesn't activate immediately, at least it didn't when I used to be on Mint and got a couple of eSIMs from them a year ago.

I never ported my number and I am very new to this process, can someone please explain the process? or if I go somewhere do they port my number to Mint with this offer like Best buy or Target? I dont want to mess with my number as I have been using this number from years. Thanks in advance.
To port your number, you generally need to know your 9 or 12 digit account number of the service you're leaving and the billing zip code (which might not be what you think it is.) That can usually be obtained either from a recent bill or by calling your provider. On Mint's site, they ask if you're porting in a number. You just feed it that information and they do the rest. Just be VERY sure of what you enter because the port will fail and you'll have a heck of a time getting it sorted out. I usually triple-check what I've entered before hitting submit.
Porting to Google Voice requires a $20 fee. Porting to anything else is usually free.

After the MINT BS fees it's over $200 plus govt fees. Mint charges junk fees like a car dealer charges "doc fees"

Having said that I prefer Mint's Tmobile service. But since I can't renew at this price, I'll go to Tello or even Visible.

Like others have said. Mint treats existing customers like $hit.

FWIW I've used both Mint Mobile and USMobile side-by-side at the same time. The Mint Mobile experience was their 6 month plan for unlimited everything. And, USMobile was for a prepaid 1 year unlimited premium plan using either Darkstar or Lightspeed. When I needed to reach out for support, Mint Mobile was responsive and easy to work with while USMobile customer support seemed to be blunt, distant, and rough around the edges (as in, "why the F@#$ are you bothering us?!). For data, Mint Mobile was dependable wherever I used it which is not bad since I gather they are using the T-Mobile network. For data on USMobile is somewhat dependable but there were spots where it seemed to be slower than Mint. For hotspot, Mint was super smooth while USMobile was far more restrictive. They literally froze our account and made us "promise" to their compliance department (did not know they had one for "hotspotters") that we would not use it for hotspotting (what's the point of free data and hotspotting when you need it?!). For setup using the physical SIM (can't speak to eSIM), it was easiest with Mint while USMobile did take numerous tries. All in all, both are decent services but if you prefer AT&T over T-Mobile, then USMobile may be your "ideal" option. Since we understand the major carriers all have their pros and cons, we just go with switching back and forth when the right deal times itself right.
This site is flooded with spam comments from what appear to be US Mobile promoters, many seemingly based in Pakistan, trashing every other mobile deal. I tried US Mobile for three months and had a terrible experience — frequent dropped calls and very limited data plans

I think it's the tax up front, for the whole year..
The tax is based on the normal price ($360), not including any discounts or rebates. If your local sales tax is 7.45%, $26.80 would be correct.

Anyone that is a current customer able to match anything? I have been with MM for 2-4 years and they weren't able to give me the unlimited or anything for the same price. I am on the 5GB right now. Loyalty doesn't pay.

Edit: Called back and spoke with retention. Call back and tell the bot you want to cancel. They offered crappy deals for the UNL and 15GB. I asked for 4 free months on my current 5GB and they documented my account that when i RENEW my account I will only have to pay for 8 months.
