Keep in mind that the M2 series chips are the ones where 512GB storage runs faster than 256GB storage. They fixed this for M3 and M4.

Scenario 1- you'd rather not spend an extra $150
Scenario 2- you want something brand new.

Pretty good list so far huh

Hard to think of a scenario in which it wouldn't be worth the extra $150 to buy a refurbished M4 from Apple.

M1 macbook air goes for $300 these days. That $699 is the price from 2 years ago
Yes, a used one most likely, but a new one from Walmart on sale is $599 right now. In that respect I feel this is a better deal for just $100 more.

Yeah. This price point seems a little dated for an M2 in late 2025. Could see it if the SSD was 512GB.

I think the M2 doesn't support dual monitors without an adapter, kind of annoying

Heads up, for those who qualify, AAFES will have the M4 version on sale again this Friday for $699.

Considering the improvements the m4 chip brought to the non-pro line, it would be a hard sell to considering buying an m1/m2/m3 without a significant discount these days.

Yeah I wouldn't choose an M2 for work this reason. Although the battery life is ridiculously long. I could work a whole day on the MacBook Pro version 'M2 without a charge.
