I've had this chair for years now, since the beginning of COVID. They had to replace the base and the upright hydraulic cylinder because both broke. So not the best chair, but they did send me new parts and all has been well since.

It is comfy and the mesh is more durable than I thought it would be.

I've had this for 5 years. Like the other comment, my star base cracked. Staples sent a replacement part with fast shipping without any fuss. 7 year warranty. Don't expect this to last you a lifetime but it's a decent option to hold you over until the right SlickDeal on a premium chair.

Bro, please don't. AI didn't tell us anything of value.

Whenever I lean back on mine or shift my weight to the side there is a loud pop or cracking sound at the base of the chair. It so loud it wakes my wife up at night
Have you seen a chiropractor recently?

Telling someone to ask AI instead of on a forum where they would get better responses for what they are looking for, we are witnessing the downfall of humanity in real time.
That's simply because most people wouldn't know what a pilonidal cyst problem is. Hence, why it's an AI question. I haven't seen many responses directly to the question with a 'better response'.

Agreed. The current blind trust in mostly deranged and inaccurate AI is going to be the downfall of civilization. It's not like we weren't dumb enough already - now we're just turning our brains off as some AI models have done destructive things. Current (as of last week) debacle is a 'very exclusive expensive high end system' deleting some big company's entire database of everything, then hiding that it did that and lying about it.

It has been repeatedly shown that if AI can't find the answer, or is not in the mood (yes, really, IN THE MOOD) to give an accurate answer, it simply lies and makes shit up. I very reluctantly use it on Amazon on occasion to sift through reviews looking for key phrases, but even there I'm very skeptical.

Most AI is complete trash except for Elon's - Elon's FratBro/Nazi AI 1.0 version needs to be beaten to a pulp then repeatedly run over with a Tesla that's on fire. The 'Nazi' part is self-confessed by the AI itself, not something I made up. It self identifies as a Nazi when asked.
Sorry but I don't follow your logic. Have you verified that the AI response I shared is incorrect and thus was falsified or made up? I did not suggest or imply that AI is the answer to everything. I gave a single response to a specific question that is rooted in a medical condition.

You'll want to look at refurb chairs from Crandall if that's the case. I agonized with a Dexley for a few months and about a used Leap V2 from Madison chair (they're a hit or miss refurb) and it is a million times more comfortable. Yes it was $500, but if you sit in it 8 hours a day, I'm assuming you'd also the cost for a premium chair is worth it!
Personal comfort is obviously dependent on the person, but we bought my SO a Leap (used of course) a few years ago, and myself one of these (they insisted on the blue for $150; only the black was on sale then) a year and a half ago. They have said that my chair is more comfortable, but I'm sure part of that is that they sit in the Leap all day and mine for short periods. But for the price this is a nice chair.

My story is very similar. Technically has lasted a few years, required a new seat and base over time that they sent at no charge. VERY squeaky all around; sitting, reclining, rotating. I would not buy again, but for ~$100 this may work for many people.Edit to add I am 5'9" 200lbs

Get another $15 off at checkout by adding email and phone number for SMS. Mine was about $104 plus tax at checkout. You could stack both of the promo codes for a total of $55 off

I'm sorry I don't follow your logic. Did you verify that the AI response was correct and thus was true and not made up before quoting it? You gave a single response to a specific question that is rooted in a medical condition that you know nothing about. You basically just said "AI it bro" and posted results you literally had no idea were correct or at all helpful.

I mean the audacity of you telling someone else to verify if the AI generated answer you shared is false. What was even the point of your response if it still leaves the person who asked in the same position as if you never responded at all. Yes, we should always do our own research no matter what, but the whole point of asking people a question is to potentially get insights from others with similar experiences.

I bought one before. This is shit. Arm broke off and left a sharp plastic edge that I had to saw off. The screen also became undone from its tucking. Id advise if you want a chair that will last more than 5 years this is not it.
5 years is an amazing amount of time for an office chair. If we get 2 years from ours at my job we are stoked.

When you say they sent out a new seat and base at no charge, did you have the warranty? Or contact the manufacturer?

Just buy a Herman Miller Aeron chair on FB marketplace, then sit and forget it!

I'm sitting in this chair now. Of course mine was $100 more a week ago. It was the most comfortable chair (for me) out of all the ones they had in-store (even the $500+ chairs). I'm ok with it and not sad about my purchase (Other than the updated price!). In the future, I won't go out of my way to hunt this one down again.

I contacted the manufacturer, Union & Scale, and it was under warranty. They weren't difficult about sending the parts each time, but it did take a couple emails back and forth to get it done

something i learned about staples chairs. staples chairs apparently arent bad at all but are somewhat overhyped on the internet. for whatever reason were a bunch of people on reddit sommething like a year or so ago who were plugging one of the staples office chairs constantly like it was super amazing. then a bunch of people made youtube videos about how amazing staples chairs are. but staples chairs are actually just "ok" nothing particularly amazing. took a long time for me to get to the bottom of this. i dont have any actual experience since i still havent bought a new chair. but maybe this will help someone else decide.i still havent figured out what im going to buy. i think mesh chairs in general are just meh. they do breathe better but they arent very comfortable. makes sense bc otherwise we would make couches with mesh.im just so unbelievably sick of bad chairs i want to buy one good one for 10 years. i guess having a computer job does that 2 u.
your first mistake was trusting reddit. reddit is full of the most idiotic morons you can find on the internet. imagine the lowest of low that sit on their computers all day, and i know what you are thinking - they are on their computers all day they must know a good chair! that's like saying slickdealers sit on slickdeal all day, they must know fashion! except they all wear costco $12 jeans.
