On one of the pictures it says:

"Save $50
Recycle any laptop
in-store and get $50 off
any Chromebook Plus.*

*Terms and conditions apply."

Anyone know what these terms and conditions are (it doesn't say anything else)? I have a few laptops that are like 15 years old, would they work for this trade-in?

This is been asked before and the trade-in only counts towards new units.

These are still pretty good prices for these specs. Maybe you'll never see $132 again outside of ebay. I'd gamble on Fair myself.

I just wish Best Buy did more (any?) shipping of these open boxes, but I did find some within 50 miles.

The problem with shipping open-box from BB is it's a complete crap shoot. At least in-store pickup you can examine it before you leave. I've received anything from empty boxes from BB (they ultimately found the laptop at the store the empty box shipped from) to pretty good units. But mostly, shipped OB has been, for me, worse than in-store.

I do have a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i open-box excellent being shipped to me...will have it in two days. They basically just ship them from other stores. I'm guessing it's inventory they can't get rid of locally so they put it up for shipping, which would explain why shipped units are typically crappier than in-store.

Oh, and if no one noticed, BB changed the rules for Open-box Excellent last week. According to official BB site, an OB-Excellent may not even come with a box. At all. So now what was an Open Box-Good can now be sold for more $$$ as an Excellent!

Honestly the first thing I do when I buy something open boxes just go home and test the battery for cycles. I bought my Lenovo duet open box and the battery had like one or two cycles only. If it had hundreds of cycles I just would have returned it immediately.

Likewise, I use HWINFO to check power cycles and power-on hours. Display units will have a thousand-plus hours on it with very few power cycles -- I don't accept a display unit just because of all those hours of being "on". But the last couple, like you, had just a handful of power cycles and 100% battery health and about a half-a-gig of written data to the SSD (another metric I look for).

Well, got my supposed Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i EXCELLENT open box today. First off the box it shipped in was slimmer than the original box so I knew there was no chance in Hell I was getting a boxed unit. First thing I noticed was it felt heavier than the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition (which I've handled a few). Opened it up and BestBuy didn't disappoint me (on me thinking they'd "eff" up)!!! there was no charger or cord. Not surprised again. Just a laptop in a bubble sleeve. Pulled it out and opened it up to see a finger print reader, which the Yoga Slim 7i does not have. Then I noticed the AMD Ryzen 5 sticker on it (the 7i has an Intel Ultra 256V). Crap. What did they give me? Turns out they shipped me a very old Yoga 7 2-in-1 with some Ryzen 7000-series CPU and 760M iGPU and, get this, 8GB RAM and Windows 10! Jeezus...if they're going to screw up, how come it's never something BETTER?

So, had to waste 45 minutes and $5 in toll road fees to go return it. That's 3 in a row of Open Box units shipped to me that were totally screwed up.
So kids -- when you see Open Box EXCELLENT, it's just a suggestion, a possibility of what might come in the box to you. But unlikely. Like a weather forecaster, being a BB employee is another job you can screw up and be wrong ALOT and still keep your job.

I probably buy 50+ laptops a year from BB, and up until recently have been pretty happy with open box experience. It has only been lately that whoever is grading and packing these laptops is blind. It's lucky for you that you haven't had any issues, but I have so not sure the point of your comment?
