I've seen similar thick, heavy-duty doormats at Dollar Tree for $5—probably same size, but all rubbery and tire-like material with not so smooth surface. They looked durable and sturdy enough for car use too, wouldn't slip or buckle, and could handle water and wear. Not sure about long-term quality though—whether they'd start shedding or leaving rubber residue.

in store only, not online, I remember seeing them the other day. do not know item number or pricing. Will try to find out info next time I am there
