[QUOTE=FrugalForever;178283728]Since we already need 2 months of service to get it unlocked after the changed unlock policy, this same phone (Tracfone variant) can also be bought from HSN for $99.99+tax+accessories with 1 year of limited service (1500talk/text/data). There are coupons floating around for new users .. NEW2025 give $20 off on first order, WELCOME2025 give $15 off etc ... YMMV.

But for those just looking to get the device unlocked and used, that is a better deal IMHO.

64gb variant with same ram is also available for just $59.99. with an expandable card slot, that is a much better value for my use case as a backup phone or reselling after unlock period ... YMMV

just an FYI - The Moto G does not have eSim capabilities unlike the Moto G Power.

4gb of real RAM is no good. Need at least 6gb of real RAM for phone to be useable.

It's $60 minimum. 50 for first month with Straight Talk then 10 for 2nd month rebranded to Tracfone. No need to change the number between months. Unlocks after 2nd month.

Does anyone know the trick to pay for one month and then still unlock at 60 days or do you have to have two fully completed billing cycles to complete the deal before you can unlock and drop the phone?
I tried paying for just 30 days (which I did last year successfully) and they refused to unlock citing new 60 day policy. Had to pay for an additional 30 days and it did then unlock. NOTE: The policy has changed this year requiring 60 days of service before unlocking.

Can anyone confirm ? Also curious
Yes, it is not automatic like an iphone but on their website there is short form to check eligibility to unlock and it unlocks within 24 hrs once you fill in the details. Phone #, IMEI #, etc.

Also, if we received the TracFone HSN deal and the plan is for a year, would it still unlock after 60 days?

EDIT: I think it will honestly per Google.
Yes, check my response to same question.

My 2024 Moto G has eSim, so I can assume the '25 does too.

last I looked HSN had 2 packs for barely anything more if you want an extra for whatever reason.
