The worst app redesign...ever?

What was your objective in this redesign? To make everything harder to read and scan? To make the app feel a lot like eBay?

Everything about this is wrong. Price color and size is wrong, differentiation between title and supplementing text is wrong, thumbnail image size is wrong. You created a meaningless and confusing wall of text.

"Go back" appears to be the main suggestion and general consensus. I agree with the vast majority of users that this is a terrible redesign and no longer intuitive to navigate.

Not happy with this redesign. Hard on the eyes and it just doesn't 'feel' like I'm on SD. At least give us an option to switch to the classic view.

I don't know how I was spared until today, but this NEW AND IMPROVED app is awful.
Mostly just terrible layout and visibility.
I'm in total agreement with many of the prior comments.

I have not suffered lag as others have, nor dead links. Just awful UI.

edit: scratch that no bug claim, upon posting my comment it appeared at the top of the last page of the comments...despite sorting by "oldest" (so it should have appeared at the bottom)

the only way they'll listen is to rate the new app on the App Store with these complaints and low stars.

Anytime retail stores are in decline or a death spiral, they always grab at straws with remodels or other dramatic changes, because they can't identify "what went wrong" and they think that these changes will somehow revive the business back to previous levels. My money is on the same situation here on SlickDeals. Maybe they lost a big portion of their subscriber base or their revenue source declined.

Hey! Thanks for the analysis! The reality is we can't stay on crusty code forever and maintaining the mobile apps is a full time job (for many people), so we had to make that maintenance a bit easier on ourselves. We hadn't updated the mobile apps in almost 5 years, so we were past due. This will better set us up to listen to the community about making updates and improving the experience, rather than what we had been doing - which was nothing. I know people liked the some of the Legacy App vibe and everyone has different preferences, but I assure you we are incorporating all of your feedback! Keep it coming.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback! The "bug" you reported is actually by design, if you can believe that. There was a lot of debate about where that next comment should go. Upon second guess - it is sort of weird. Let us know where you think it should go. You can give us 1-star reviews now but please just change it back to 5 stars later after we fix what you hate. Add multiple color/contrast theme options instead of just light/dark. Current options are hard on the eyes and make me want to spend less time on your app. Tell your devs to go look at the top 5 themes on VSCode or whatever they use and mimic them.

I just saw it for the first time today. Was a forced upgrade put in place?

I make mega corp apps and websites with like 100 devs toiling away.

I'd fire myself if I did this.
