Looking back now that my kids are teenagers, these and other "magna-tile" sets (many are compatible with other brands) were probably THE best value we ever spent on toys, in terms of hours spent playing vs money spent. They built with these things CONSTANTLY, often using them to build structures and play sets for completely unrelated action figures, toy cars, targets for Nerf guns, etc. The only other toy type that came close were those colorful plastic marble run sets. My kids are VERY different from one another but magna-tiles and marble runs were like the universal toys between them.

As a grandmother, I agree. Even though the kids are still little, they play with them all the time and use their imagination. I will 100% put $ into these over plastic one-ended junk.

Yeah, we had two big bins full of magna-tiles; every birthday or Xmas they'd get at least another little set to add to the collection. Sometimes they'd just be "vanilla" tiles, sometimes they'd have themes, like wheeled cart platforms or glow-in-the-dark, but they were always the most played-with item, and every new infusion brought a new wave of creativity into the entire set. It was always a greater effect than the sum of the parts, if that makes sense. FWIW, they're also one of the easier toys to clean up, because they naturally want to stick together, and it's honestly pretty satisfying to shove them into a pile and listen to them clickity-clack into rows and columns.
