$50/mo is their lowest plan at totalwireless. And you would need 2 months.

You're posting incorrect information - please read the current unlock policy which changed in April and edit your posts so new users don't get the wrong info.

This changed in April. Now you need to have purchased 60 days or more of service. 30 won't cut it anymore. Also I don't believe there's a $10 option anymore for activating a new device. Their plans start at 15 for the first month then 10 afterwards for autopay.

but that would require id verification? I thought we don't want to "burn" id verification on cheaper phones...
I actually thought we don't want to "burn" ID notification because it means a much higher risk of identity theft.

long story short I got banned on hinge app. it's the only dating app I've had decent activity on. anyways tjeu have strict rules with getting back on app and only way seems to be a new phone and sim, number. Google voice or other text, number apps won't work. I'm currently using tmobile, how would I get another completely new extra number?
So just use us mobile for $5 or a trial of a mvno...

Unless it's a tri-folding phone I'm not sharing my ID. It has your ID number and enough stuff for ID theft. Once someone leaks or hacks this company, that's it. We've seen credit card companies and backs breached in the past. It's not impossible.

The last time someone wanted to do an "ID check", I asked them a handful of questions:

- who is performing the check?
- how long is the data being retained?
- what protections are being done with the data?
- what oversight is being done (via a trusted third party) to ensure everything is being done properly?
- is the data being resold? if so, can I opt-out?
- once the check is done, can I request my data to be removed from their systems?

....and like the late Radio Shack's slogan: "You've got questions, we've got blank stares."

As of 7/30/2025 11:50pm (pst) here are the Motorola phones listed:Moto G Play (2024)Edge+Z4EdgeG Stylus 5GOne 5GMoto G PowerMoto G PureMoto G FastG7G7 PlayG7 PowerNot sure why they are accepting phones from 2019 (G7 & variants and Z4). Z4 I could understand, being a flagship, but G7 is kinda garbage. But on the Google side, they take every Pixel phone, first Pixel came out in 2016. Doesn't make much sense, wish they still did the generic "Android Phone" trade in. Sigh.
I wish they accept moto E, i still have a moto E from those early tracfone deals

Will this work with Spectrum mobile plan without unlocking? Spectrum uses Verizon network.

I have a Verizon sim card from work. Can I use this Verizon sim and use the phone to unlock this phone after using it for 2 months?

Assuming your iPhone/Android is carrier unlocked, perhaps this would work? It doesn't offer 10000000000000000GB data but it's a legit mobile phone number/text/data for $10 shipped including new SIM card, I believe after first month it's $14/mo.

Those are great questions, and most associates won't have any answers for you. I'm disappointed that businesses are moving to KYC, without first ensuring systems exist to prevent misuse and abuse of sensitive data. There are no serious penalities when a large entity suffers a data breach, as a result they experience no pressure to improve. Just a strange era to live in. Privacy is almost finished.

You'll probably find the story of chlorox and cognizant funny. Chlorox alleges that cognizant simply gave the credentials out when someone asked and that was the cause of a data breach.
