It does not look like this version 2 helmet has been Virginia Tech rated. The Forefront 1 received a 2 star.

I'm afraid to be ripped to shreds for asking this here….but how much better is this helmet really, than the Ozark Trail one https://www.walmart.com/ip/367756086 that's $20? No, I'm not a hardcore rider, I take my kids biking down some easy paved paths in our neighborhood on the weekends and feel like a hypocrite because I make them wear a helmets every time.

Smith is generally well regarded among mountain bikers. This is one of their most expensive and better helmets with MIPS and Smith's own "KOROYD" system (the liner that looks like a bee hive). Yes, it would be WAY better protection than a Walmart helmet. I highly recommend getting a good helmet with MIPS. You can find better deals for "just" a neighborhood / paved roads helmet... MIPS will be an indicator that the helmet is somewhat legitimate. : )
