Yall do realize this is just a DC battery bank right? I don't see why anyone would think it could be used as a UPS or what you would be powering via USB that..... needs that?

There isn't much of a scam going on here, it's just Ecoflows entry to compete with Ankers C300. I will say that this product is dumb though. The Anker C300 DC is often in the $150 price range and it comes with a lantern built in, a DC car port, and a solar charging input. All things that make it substantially more useful for weekend camping which a device like this is marketed for. This product just doesn't make sense in the ecoflow lineup when their river series exists and it so close in price and size.

This feels like it's between a large battery pack and an actual power station, but doesn't offer the strengths of the others. Depending on the situation, I'd just go up to the river 2 pro I have or a 20k battery pack.

I'm not as familiar with these packs I just want to run a fan on short outages. Do you think it can handle a box fan?
If your fan is powered by an AC outlet then no, these models don't have an ac inverter. If fan is powered by usb then yes.

Because there's a lot of people out there who don't know the facts, they don't know what Wh means or most other things. They want to get in on the power station craze going on but the 20+ minute reviews and "guides" on YouTube and elsewhere overwhelm them.

So they'll grab something like this. It's small, it's simple, it's not intimidating.

This wasn't designed for people who know the ropes. It's designed and marketed for the new guy. Are there better products? Absolutely, but the people buying these don't know that and won't care until they learn.

Now THIS is peak ecoflow BS. "Same" product with 6 different skus that are all $10-20 apart, but the top sku and bottom sku are basically completely different products. Honestly, I blame ecoflow themselves for the consumer confusion.

Notice on that page there's a picture of a version with a light... Then when you click 'Trail 300 + camping light' it's the trail 300 with a KeychaiN light included. Cause duh, of course the built in light is the Trail PLUS 300 which isn't available yet.

People that are interested in these things will know what they are talking about, but when recommending an 'Ecoflow Trail' to a family/friend that asks about it, it's gonna get lost in translation. A lot of people that get that kind of word of mouth recommendation are just gonna hit the first/cheapest result on Amazon, which will be the USB only version.

Only two USB-c and two usb-a nothing else? Better to carry two 99wh pocket power banks do the same, smaller and can even take on an airplane

The trail series look to be geared more toward hikers, hence the low capacity and features. I don't think this is designed to replace the river for general use. I agree it would be an odd competitor.

Only downside with the river series is that it only has 1 usb-c port. It would be ideal if it had more.

It uses a battery composed of NCM (Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt) aka NMC, LiNMC, LMNC, etc. This is different than the other Trail units, which are LFP aka LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate).
NCM is more energy dense; smaller by volume and lighter than LFP per watt hour. Unfortunately, NCM is also highly volatile (fire risk) and degrades faster than LFP. LFP is much more safer and hardier.
If weight and portability are more important than safety and reliability, then NCM makes sense. However, most power stations released in the past two years use LFP because of the risks.

Another difference is warranty.
The EF ECOFLOW TRAIL 200 DC Portable Power Station comes with a 6-year warranty.
The Anker SOLIX C300 DC Power Bank Station comes with a 3-year warranty.
I have been bitten by Anker before. That was a 1-year warranty solar generator though (their very early models) and died soon after 1 year. They did not offer any help at all.
So, I might be a bit biased because of this.

One other thing that's disappointing about the model lineup is that onlyThe NCM model has app support. The LFP models do not have WiFi or Bluetooth.

This device doesn't take solar, you need to go to the trail 300. This is just a oversized powerbank. Your better office just getting multiple 4 power banks to get the same number of outlets.

Rule of thumb on any warranty by any company anywhere in 2025--unless their product is sold by a retailer where you can take it back and yell at someone, their warranty may be next to useless because they don't give two Fs since they have your money and you can't touch them. It's a sad truth these days.

At least you can leave reviews for their products that warn others. They usually don't like crappy reviews.

The platforms for reviews are all gamed these days too. Shills abound--it's all part of the bait and switch game that's prevalent now. Build a product up with good reviews, switch to the garbage version and delete/bury all new reviews and milk this until sales drop--then rinse and repeat. Sickening third world technique that's made its way to the first world...
