Just remember that the Pixel 10 is launching in a couple weeks. Decent chance Best Buy has the trade in an iPhone 13 or whatever and get one free like they have the last couple years. I would definitely wait unless you need a phone immediately.

I tried that, iOS is so incredibly primitive that I'd rather use a buggy Pixel than an iPhone.

what are the "every way" differences?
I'm not a super user by any stretch, but I have both the 9 and the 9a and without looking at the back of the phone, i'd never know which one is which. by the way, I like both a lot.

Still rocking my super reliable 4a. The 4a form factor just perfect, and maybe I got lucky, but I still get a full day out of the battery out of it. The 9a is tempting because I think they worked the bugs out of 5a-8a, but I would only get $40 in rebate for my 4a. They'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
my 17 year old son is still loving his 4a. i've been trying for years to get him to update it. i've tried a new Pixel 6a, 7 and 9a as well as a Moto razr '23, Moto edge+ '23, and iphone 13 and iphone 14. He just keeps insisting that his 4a is fine.

I have owned probably 30 phones in my life now and the main thing I've learned is to go with the mainstream. Updates are reliable, bugs are squashed and everything just works for the most part. Anytime I've had a Galaxy Nexus or a pixel or a OnePlus phone or anything else I run into ridiculously frustrating things like Wi-Fi not working reliably, terrible reception, batteries burning out, screens that go bad. The Google Pixel line is loved by purists, but they are much more likely to have issues.
The problem is that Samsung literally packs so much bloatware on each phone that it is beyond compare. OneUI on Samsung is a mess, and 75% of users hate it. They would delete it if they possibly could, but Samsung won't allow it. It's like Samsung feels the need to create an "ecosystem" to compete with Apple; instead they have created a glitchy, laggy, 2nd class, hot mess. Google got the clean Android software 100% correct with Pixel. I would take the Pixel minor harware issues with clean friendly software, over the horrendous Samsung OneUI software every single day.

I have to say I'm almost tempted to buy simply for the access to GrapheneOS alone.

Eh, that's a lot for a base model, especially since they don't have microSD and force you to pay 100 bucks to get more than 128GB of storage.

I just purchased this yesterday. What do I do? Return it and get one at the lower price?

It's a solid budget phone. I got it because it's the cheapest phone that works with Project Genesis and cheapest one for Meta Raybans. Which don't work with any Chinese android phone.
$399 hardly a budget price.

Still haven't gotten my $150 coupon from the Pixel 6a battery claim. Crazy that they are taking so long. Everyone else got their code in hours, not weeks.

When I picked up at Google store I noticed IDme teacher discount. I mentioned it quickly but I didn't do more than that to try to get discounted.

Id me will give you a discount code but if I already applied the 6a battery coupon I assume can't stack?

Yeah I tried with chat no luck. They only allow one coupon.

If you do the 6a battery rebate program, you get $100 off from the sale, $150 off from the battery promo code, and $75 back from the trade in. Comes out to $175 before tax.
So I have an affected 6a, and im having total brain fart. could you explain your math?

I am assuming that it is $100 for this current 9a sale, $150 off via the recall itself (if we decline cash and the battery replacement), and then $75 to send this back to google as a trade in. Is this correct? TIA

These are probably worth more for trade in when getting the pixel 10!

yup, $325 total off from $500 ~ $175 (you'll pay $250 but get refunded $75 when the trade in clears)
