For the moment, yes, but Nintendo raised the MSRP to $89.99 a few days ago. Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc. have all raised their prices accordingly. It remains to be seen whether Costco does the same.

Any suggestions on hand grips for the pro 2 controller? They're smoother than the first pro controller.

Does anyone know what is the advantage of the Switch 2 pro over the Switch pro controller?

Is this any better/worth the cost than the off brand switch pro controllers for half the price?

For PC emulators, even a generic Switch compatible controller should work well. I used the original Pro controller first and then when I migrated to Switch 2 I bought that 8bit controller to run emulators.
I've been using a PS5 controller for my PC emulators.

Is there any benefit to getting a either a pro controller or the 8bit controller for PC emulator play?

The Switch 1 Pro Controller is possibly my favorite controller of all time. With that said, the fact that the Switch 2 Pro Controller is still using the same design, did not incorporate hall effect sticks or other modern designs, and may still be vulnerable to stick drift, is unforgivable.

I am not going to spend $75 or more on a controller that will become unusable in 2-3 years with mild use.

Switch 1 Pro controllers are a fantastic way to go for PC emulation. No missing buttons and a built-in gyroscope covers everything you'd need to map any console to a S1 Pro, and from personal experience I've found that they hold their battery life better than an Xbox Series or PS5 controller. PlayStation controllers do have a D-pad that is a lot better, though, so games that rely on precise directional inputs are better off with a PS controller.
They're also much cheaper if you check Ebay for them instead of your local video game store; there are a lot of import resellers who snagged hundreds of Japanese-packaging (but region-free) Pro controllers before 2025 and they're currently being unloaded at $38-40 each, brand-new, with free shipping, regardless of whether they're the standard Pro controller or one of the limited-edition designs that were tied to a specific game.

It depends on what part of the controller you value the most. They all have tradeoffs.

The S2 pro controller can remotely wake up the S2 while the S1 cannot. There are also little added features and adjustments like the G buttons on the back of the grips that can be programmed as shortcuts, an added c button on the center bottom of the controller for chat, and raise buttons for better overall feel. Otherwise, it's the same as the S1.
