You crumple up a sheet of newspaper and put it on the bottom of the chimney then pile in the charcoal and then light the newspaper to start the charcoal

Pretty sure they were making a boomer joke, lol.

I personally use brown paper grocery bags, a single one does the trick.

Don't overlook the size here, this one is fine for a small grill like a Smokey Joe. Otherwise get the Standard size for a Weber Kettle.

I use a weekly grocery flyer or a bit from the bag of charcoal. Rip it up a bit to increase airflow.

The compact starter is a good enough size for 2 zone cooking and low and slow. You shouldn't need the regular size chimney unless you're using the entire grilling surface searing a large amount for a crowd, but you'd probably be using a 22" kettle.

Made this mistake last year, as a first-time 22" kettle owner. This is definitely too small for full-sized grills. Immediately had to exchange the compact for the regular size.

webers chimney starters are excellent tools, I've used the full-size one many times. I see no reason why a compact design wouldn't be perfect for smaller scale cook-outs.

Nice save, thanks! I read right past compact until I saw your comment. I didn't know they came in different sizes, but this is def not for me.

Yes, the above comment is worth considering.
This is the tiny bity size you will get disappointed when you receive the item!

not speaking about the size.

https://www.amazon.com/Weber-7429...to_dp&th=1

I have the regular size, but it works great.

Wish I bought this few years before.
(I have been using plenty of lighter fuel, fire starter (fire start cubes) for 2+ years and it is always a struggle to get the fire in charcoal)

Now, it is very easy.
