It's probably for other types of tires w presta valves (like some bicycle tires). Or maybe im just inferring incorrectly from the picture.

Very. I have a Ridgid digital tire inflator, and I wanted to see how accurate it was, so I got one of these, and this matches the Ridgid exactly.
I bought one and would absolutely recommend it. It works perfectly, and is accurate against my Ridgid tire inflator.
