I don't think I'd run in anything that costs $38, let alone half that. Probably more injurious than just going barefoot on pavement (which I tried a few times...). Very few of us were "born to run" for more than a couple of decades.
It is definitely lower quality than popular brands like Nike, Adidas, and such. I'd compare the quality as a little better than generic brands found at Target and Walmart. The improvement over Target/Walmart shoes is that the sole is softer than the blocks of wood they put under the shoes at Target/Walmart generic brands. I bought my pair for about $38 after taxes. Would I buy again? probably not. I normally buy my namebrand shoes at discount stores (Ross, Marshalls), but at an slightly higher cost, but at least they're a namebrand.
