"Tennis shoes" doesn't always mean tennis shoes nowadays. There doesn't seem to be any side support, and the toes seem to point up. So they would be bad for tennis.
And they're not even selling it like that, they're saying Running Shoes. That reminds me of the old Onion snippet "Running shoes mostly used for computer programming."
I don't think I'd run in anything that costs $38, let alone half that. Probably more injurious than just going barefoot on pavement (which I tried a few times...). Very few of us were "born to run" for more than a couple of decades.
It is definitely lower quality than popular brands like Nike, Adidas, and such. I'd compare the quality as a little better than generic brands found at Target and Walmart. The improvement over Target/Walmart shoes is that the sole is softer than the blocks of wood they put under the shoes at Target/Walmart generic brands. I bought my pair for about $38 after taxes. Would I buy again? probably not. I normally buy my namebrand shoes at discount stores (Ross, Marshalls), but at an slightly higher cost, but at least they're a namebrand.
