The possible reason is that sometimes Amazon default to ship S&S NOW rather than your normal S&S date. I have prime, and I got the "shipping now" option once a while, including this purchase. So I went back and change the "Change first delivery date" date to my next S&S delivery date, and then click on "Subscribe". Otherwise, they were going to ship now. In your case, it will need to meet the $35 threadshold because it's shipping now.

Only two brands you can trust.
Costco's Kirkland olive oil
California Growers olive oil (almost any bigger branded name)
The rest are Euro mafia who use rapeseed oil and other types to dilute
There are plenty of other good oils out there. But you are right- exercise caution. There are plenty of sketchy products.

What are some other good brands and how do we know they're legit? I know that Italian oil is some of the worst, my godmother lived in Italy for decades and she said that real olive oil is actually nice and thick, but all the crap you see sold retail is diluted to hell

Not sure if this works for all of you, but I added 5 and got $15 instant rebate with stockUp & Sale: -$15 on top of the subscribe and save -$1.24.
Total for 5 is $8.46, no taxes for FL.
Nice. Didn't work for me though. Still you get my like. You got a slick deal

I don't have Prime and when I try to check out using S&S it's telling me I need to spend $35 for free shipping. Did Amazon just kill S&S for people who don't have Prime?
It has been this way for awhile. S&S gets treated same as any other stuff. $35 min for free shipping.

That has been my impression. Costco has good dealers and economic power, and they use it for members. Still, could you link a reliable source for what you've said?

Costco's is one of the more trustworthy out there. It may not be the taste everyone wants, but I'd compromise some flavor for knowing it is real evoo sourced from where they say they got it from.

This article seems to only focus on tastes of oils not whether they're actual olive oil or not

Is this better quality than the Amazon branded olive oil?https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/1136347
Most olive oil I've tried tastes like motor oil. So if there is a "better" one that's probably got to do with whatever you make with it's ability to blend with or drown out that specific taste. I currently have this brand an while it doesn't taste plasticy as the dollar tree does (plastics are made from petroleum products) ; I wouldn't classify it as good. The only oils I could say are good are original nutivia organic coconut (low burning point means don't fry this) and I've had one Ken's Simply dressings that didn't taste too bad. Land of lakes butter tastes good too, an country crock an the Sav off knock off aren't bad, and bacon grease is usually tasty. - - - maybe post it here if you find a olive oil that doesn't taste like petroleum products.

Is it me or we are seeing more olive oil deals lately. Is it that companies trying to dump their heat spoiled inventory or that the producing region is having a good season and they are expecting commodity price to come down?
SD in general is posting different things. We got alibaba and no name memory brands posted the first time this year. I usually write it off as "corporations change" . We're are about 4 years from the last major change to SD an its user base. Which was about 4 years I seen SD before that change took place. And SD was changing when I came around then according to every user. SD seems to be on a 4 year cycle for their own "inventory" of sorts. Considering 4 years ago was when it when corporate. A couple posters here (like navy mom) have regularly posted household/grocery stuff an i expect they'll post whatever they find. The other thing is the use base changes too. When the original SD died; a lot left including me. Some of us start using the stuff weve been hoarding 😅 I can see some kickbacks from alibaba like postings.

Not sure why it worked for me and not for you. Here is a screenshot of my invoice.
