It would be worth getting the SIM if it never loses functionality, no matter how often you use it. Even if the number were to be lost, the SIM should be reusable. If it's not reusable then it's too much upkeep.

I'm pretty sure you lose your number within 10 days if you don't text or call someone at least once.
As for what happens with the SIM functionality, unclear. I suppose it'll keep working but you'll have an entirely new number?
Apparently they've changed network providers and that's why they're giving out new SIMs, unsure on new network current one is T-Mobile.
