this is normally around $300 w/o heatsink, so yeah, pretty good. However, if you have B&H's Payboo card and like me live in a high sales tax area, their price ends up cheaper right now.

It's not bad. PCIE Gen 4x4, DRAM cache, Samsung NAND and controller, and Abt is a reputable seller that doesn't co-mingle stock with fakes like Amazon. 4TB is the highest capacity Samsung makes for NVME, so unless you are doing huge file copies, most people won't benefit from Gen 5.

The only time I've seen it significantly cheaper than this was Prime Day. $180 for "used - like new" on Amazon Warehouse after the extra 30% off.

The one I bought had 0 writes and 0 power on hours. I was lucky enough to be the first to use it. Capacity validated on Samsung Magician too.

I bought the "used - like new" deal during Prime Day. I received a 'SAMSUNG MZVL22T0HBLB-00B00 : 2048.4 GB' with a 990 PRO heat spreader applied. I actually didn't install this until after the return window (this week) due to travel. Luckily Amazon made this right and fully refunded me. Never going to order expensive components off Amazon Resell again. Probably would have been safer going with the 990 Pro w/o heatsink since any scammer can slap the official heatsink on a drive and return it without question.

I think this is the most I have ever paid for a hard drive. I bought most pc parts during Prime Day with the 30% off "used", but did not see this. This will be good for OS and pictures.

I was looking to get this but then saw they were charging Florida sales tax while we are on a tax holiday. Checked Amazon and at 279.99 plus 6% back from the Amazon card it actually worked out as a better deal. I missed the whole Crucial t500 for $200 price mistake so I doubt that's going to come around again so I just pulled the trigger at $279 even. Am I a dummy?

I need to use it in a no heatsink scenario. Are we able to remove the heatsink and use it naked?

Best ever was Jan 2024, it was for sale on Samsung site for $225 and there was a $50 rebate from Chase … to bring it down to $175 … but while I know some people got the rebate, Samsung shipped (and billed me) one day after the Chase rebate ended 😡

That heatsink looks low profile. I wonder if it will fit in a gaming laptop?

Just install yesterday, it's not tall but is pretty wide. The PCIe latch for my GPU was in the way a bit. definitely not 2280, more like 3085

Plan to install in a laptop. Need to remove the heat sink. Is it easy to do it?

No, it uses tiny star head screws. I would just go with the non-heatsink version.
