After getting both the RG35XX SP and the Miyoo Flip, I think the Miyoo device is better and worth the extra $5. The biggest win is that the buttons feel miles better, like it's kind of difficult to play the RG35XX SP because the buttons are so stiff. But also the Flip has smaller bezels (making the device a little smaller) and the joysticks are good enough to play the N64/Dreamcast library.
One downside is that neither device is powerful enough to run Swanstation with good texture upscaling which makes 2D/3D games like ChronoCross less pretty than on more powerful devices.
The transparent RG35XXSP also has hinge issues with the plastic cracking so I'd say just go for a solid color 35SP or the 34SP if you want the most reliable hinge.
But also the risk of breaking a $45 device doesn't seem all that bad, I'd just replace the flip on the off chance it breaks and swap the old SD card in
