This is the kind of phone you purchase, activate, and throw in the center console or glove box in case you ever have an emergency. And then you give it to your kid to use at home or in the car or plane for games, movies, reading or whatever.
Or it can be the at-home device for family members to use as a TV remote, control your smart devices, air conditioning and whatever.
So many vast uses for a phone like this.
It's a no-brainer at $40, tax included!
Just my $0.02. To each their own!

- Two different doctors offices AND one lab facility (MRI) -- would not recognize in their computer system a pre-paid number as a "valid cell phone". I had to use it as a home phone or "work" phone, since those aren't authenticated. Why? Probably for text messages for appointments & verification for their healthcare Ahh-Pee-Pees.
- Tried to play a video game called "Overwatch 2". Couldn't do it, since you needed to authenticate your account with a POST-PAID mobile number.
- Local bank required a mobile number for 2FA (which is EXCELLENT). Except that it needed to be post-paid because they used the "credit check" feature of number ownership to verify your identity. They reversed this policy to allow for a home phone and a spoken 6-digit number.....since so many of their customers were essentially locked out of their own accounts.
- Credit Cards. Both when APPLYING for a new one or VERIFYING YOUR IDENTITY for an existing one -- require a mobile phone number for a confirmation text. But must be post-paid, for the same reason as the bank above. (Now they want to video chat with you via a third-party service that has ZERO accountability, which is a step too far.)
- Even several local grocery stores soft-require post-paid numbers for their Club Card schemes -- though you can work around that by calling it your "home" number, but they NAG you every time you check out..."Would you like to add MOBILE number?"

My last year Tracfone 6.5" BLU View 5G Smartphone with 24gb days for 1-year screen just cracked, can I buy this phone and transfer my account to the new phone and carry all my remaining data and free talk and text? Anyone have any experience? How easy or hard to do the transfer?
Login to your TracFone account online and make sure you have LineLock disabled, then when you activate the phone from this deal on the TracFone website select 'keep my number', enter your existing number and it'll transfer over to the new phone. Depending on if your existing line is a Pay as You go or a Monthly/Yearly Unlimited plan then it will either combine the balances or postpone the included 1500/1500 bundled plan's start until the unlimited plan ends. One hurdle you will have to figure out, with having a broken screen, is how to receive the One Time Password text to your existing line in order to confirm you are the owner of the phone, you'll have to see if you can have it sent to the eMail registered to the account through the help of support.
