Leaving lithium battery uncharged for a year in a drawer will definitely damage the battery."Yes, a lithium battery left uncharged for a year is bad, as it likely resulted in a deep discharge, which causes irreversible chemical damage, leading to reduced capacity and potential complete failure. Calendar aging is a natural process where batteries degrade over time, and leaving them unused in a discharged state significantly accelerates this damage, making them less efficient or even unusable. Why it's bad?
  • Deep discharge:A completely discharged lithium-ion battery can reach a "point of no return", where the internal chemistry is permanently altered and the battery can no longer safely hold a charge.
  • Calendar aging:Batteries degrade over time, even when not in use, a process called calendar aging. Leaving a battery in a low-charge state for an extended period exacerbates this aging.
  • Irreversible damage:The chemical reactions that occur during a deep discharge are not easily reversible and can lead to a significant loss of "recoverable capacity"."
thanks Gemini. I leave it at about 50% charge and check it once a few months and top up as necessary.

got mine and didn't bother with the T-Mobile sim. got my bootloader unlock code, just waiting for the OEM toggle to enable
Could you share the steps, please?
link is here to get your unlock code and the steps to do- https://en-us.support.motorola.co...r-device-a
unfortunately it seems there is a 7 day waiting period for the OEM unlock option to enable in android [if i knew this, i wouldnt have activated my service and just enabled wifi]. The phone has to be connected to the internet for that whole week. So I wasted a week of service =(
would have helped at the possibility of the samsung tablet deal coming back too before my service runs out.

F... me I thought it works with T-Mobile sim card because I tested it with an inactive T-Mobile sim card successfully. What am I going to do with my two stylus phones?

I didn't have a lot of trust in the inactive T-Mobile sim card strategy and I'm grateful you tested it for us. Are your active T-Mobile sims on a postpaid or prepaid plans?

No,I am not active T-Mobile on any plan. Since I thought it would work on T-Mobile, I bought them for another purpose. The 2024 version worked and alot of people used the 2024 version on T-Mobile network. Now they change it in 2025; so who buy Metro phone anymore with 1 year of unlock wait period.

I do. I have 2-4 phones in circulation (thanks to GV) so these cheap Metro deals are a fantastic way to acquire newer phones, mainly because the batteries aren't removable and last about 3 years of my usage. I also can't prove it but I think the endurance of the built in flash has reduced as well and I tend to get corrupted files after 3 years of media usage

Patience is a virtue. I have a couple solid phones. I could wait 6 months and I could even wait 12 months. It isn't like I have a broken phone or using a bad phone. Great deal makes the wait worth it for me.
  • It also helps that I can use a large screen size phone as a mini tablet. It won't be stuck in a drawer.

I tried that one. It works all right with one of my magsafe Chargers but not the other. And it doesn't seem to allow the phone to charge with any of my non-magsafe wireless chargers.

No wonder it was only$7. I was more interested in having some protection with a magnetic mount rather than wireless charging. I charge by wire anyway.

I was going to unlock the bootloader but what are the reasons for doing that? I see that the warranty will no longer apply if I do it.

Would I be able to unlock the bootloader after I unlock the network on the phone next year and not paying for service? Is it worth unlocking if I sell the phone next year?
