this is not aimed for DIYers but more for set it and forget it people. they also have probably the best app in this market in terms of both functionality and how clean the ui is. and yeah this thing can do solar input.

Are these things using the same LiFePO4 batteries coming out of China? Because you can get 2-300Ah 12V on Amazon which comes to 7.2KWh for $650. Add in whatever for a nice inverter/power system that can also take solar in and you've got it for way less then half the price of this fancy thing that can't even do solar input. Am I missing something? I guess having the 5 year warranty is nice, but it wouldn't cover batteries getting old.

But all of the batteries on Amazon are of the highest quality. Not to mention the high quality, internal connections and nearly orgasmic customer service..... And these "things" totally do not have dual solar inputs of 150V & 60V.

Seriously though, as you stated, like everything else you have to consider the use case. For instance, I got one that I take camping, tailgating, and use for music/ lighting at the burlesque show that I put on at the park.

Even though it can do 240V, it's 4000W max, so would be pretty slow charging. Plus it's 8000Wh, which is maybe a 10th of a typical EV battery capacity?

I have two Delta Pro 3s with the 50 AMP hub, which can push double the wattage if you're using it for charging. But again, not a great solution for EV charging IMHO.

they are all in one, so its the mppt and inverter too, and there is software to monitor remotely from your phone. i agree for a large home system its cheaper to go with components and built it yourself, but electricity can hurt people if handled wrong. so if you just want a simple solution for van life or something like that, this is a good option.

no because cars are 50-150 kwh so it would take days to charge them back up or you would need 2 or more systems

I never have a clue (as a set it and forget it guy) whether these battery backup devices would be good enough to last a day or two for all my essential stuff. HVAC, a couple of fridges, a couple of freezers, a water heater, and lights. I could not do without lights, HVAC, refrigeration/freezers as a minimum. I know this would require some transfer equipment to be hooked up to my breaker box to take over during any outage.

I'd have to add up wattage and do the math, but that hurts my lazy brain's feelings. I know a whole-home standby generator system would be considerably more than $10,000 installed. I always give up and get nothing. For over $3k, I would hope that with a few hundred more for kit parts and an electrician's installation fee, this would do. But maybe this price range is still insufficient to use battery backups.

This is for people who don't want DIY route. If you want solar, all you need are solar panels and a wire to connect. No need to buy an inverter, crimping wires, etc.

I have the Costco setup with 2 Delta pro'3's and the HUB. I don't *think* this setup can push out 50 AMPs like mine. Which I needed for my house panel.

Looks like it has 240 output. 120/240V~60Hz 4000W total (surge8000W), 16.7A(×1) Max per port,16.7A(×1) Max per port. Might be good for my Prius Prime.

You'd have to get the Smart Home Panel 2 and connect all 3 with the extra battery for 16kwh and 100a support. Not a cheap option tho.
