Bought a 7.0 Cu Ft version in November of 2019 and it's been going strong ever since. Have the temp set to about 2/3 the way to the coldest setting and it sits around 0°F to -5°F. Also keeps cold really well. I have a few frozen gallon jugs of water in the bottom for thermal mass and it's generally about 3/4 full to completely full. We have lost power for 3+ days and the temp inside didn't get above 15°F.

Yeah, I think these are store pick up only (at least in my area) and this deal may be YMMV. My local store has all of these freezers in stock, so hopefully others will also be able to find them. Sale prices are slick, IMO.

FWIW I have 3- and 5-cubic footers, both purchased in late 2020/early 2021, and they've been entirely reliable. Note, it's not a bad idea to put these on surge protectors. The freezers themselves aren't valuable, but given the current cost of meat, you could have hundreds to thousands of dollars in the freezers.

What about energy consumption? How much does it use in a month, say it is full and in a hot garage which Presumeis on the first ground floor?

That's likely available at Best buy's website or google.

Things want to stay their temperature. The more mass you have the more energy it's take to make it hot. Kind of how things in motion want to remain in motion. Stopping a heavy car is a lot harder than a ball.

in SoCal my 7.0 cu ft. insignia i got last year is averaging about 900 Wh per day and about 20 kwH per month; i see it draw about 70-71 watts/hr when the compressor is running; its full and in a 90+F garage

The estimated energy cost for the 7 cubic foot unit (in Illinois) is $4.00/mo.

Hope this helps.

I have an Insignia freezer that is 10 years old and still going strong. I'd just about guarantee it's a rebadged Midea, but I've never looked.
