USB A is the large conector we are used to. USB 3.0 is the standard that adds an 2 extra superspeed channels using 8 or 9 wires to achieve 5 Gbits. USB C is the new small conector. USB 3.2 gen 1 is the higher speed version of USB 3.0 using higher speed switching to achieve 10 Gbits. USB 3.2 gen 2 uses the extra wires in USB C to achieve 10 - 20 Gbits (18 wires, 24 pins) There are others B, micro, mini, micro B, too many to list.

You can share the drive on your home network, or use an OTP adapter for your phone I believe (at least on Android).

Not exactly what you're asking for, but I use an android app called FolderSync (the free version) to back up to a mini PC I have always on at home. I set up an ssh key to do it securely. Every night when I plug in my phone, it backs up any new photos I've taken automatically. It takes some setup, but I thought I would share that in case you find it useful. Automatic backup is a little more convenient.

I do understand what you are saying, but have you personally got around 400 MB/s speeds. 5Gps in usb 3.1 give me 230 MB/s with this seagate 26TB drive using the included cable..

Maybe some one can test it with this 26TB seagate with. usb C to get 10 Gbps speeds.

It does not. The WD Elements line usually does, but the EasyStore does not.

These look like exos hamr drives that are now just labeled baracudas. Maybe all those old external hdd exos would have been relabeled as well if Seagate cared. They were probably all binned to external use anyways which is how they ended up in externals.

Use Backblaze. Backups one machine and any connected external drive. Great redundancy offsite for photogs/creatives.

Nope. The externals I got contained non-HAMR EXOS.

are you sure, when do you buy this 26TB drive? You are the very first person who reported that. Now lower TB Seagates did have EXOS in them, but not 26TB model. How did you know it was exos. Do you have screen shot?

We do have some users that "love" joking/horsing around in these threads ... so can you confirm it, or provide link, that others also got 26tb seagates that were Exos!

p.s. A few pages back in this thread, I did post a screen shot of my Seagate 26 TB hard drive, and it showed the SMART info. What does your's look like. If you took it out of enclosure , can you take a picture of the drive showing all the data. This really is the first we heard there were EXOS and non-hamr. again.... many of us "want to believe", but we need to verify! Smilie

I see. He didn't get a 26tb Exos in these. They don't have them.

They have helium filled "Baracudas" that Seagate doesn't even sell.
