I have this multi tool. I think they didn't spend enough effort on the switch. Sometimes it WON'T turn on. Sometimes it WON'T turn off and I have to remove the battery. Other than that, it does the job.

I have the Ryobi set already, but I don't have a multi tool yet. Should I hold out for brushless on this tool specifically or does that not really matter for this tool?

its a very niche tool. I have the brushed and it works fine, but the ryobi blades are awful. If youre going to use both tools, I think its worth it.

edit: wrote brushless, meant brushed

Whats this fascination with brushless. I have brushed dewalt drill and impact that i got some 15 years ago and they run like new and smooth except batteries dont hold as much charge. I invested in ryobi already and i dont havr these two tools. This is OK deal considering they sell huge set for $299 during sale periods. I also have dremel but plugging it in is a hassle. Dont expect to multitool through steel with this, but sander could be very useful. I think it has vacuum attachment, so no bag, thsts a minus.

I think there's some power benefits but mostly longevity and efficiency I think are the benefits. unless you will use the tool often I wouldn't think it matters. Ryobi isn't even the power house tool brand so I don't know why people cry about brushless when we're talking Ryobi.

If this is the multi tool - I have the older switch version and that is just as awful - the vibrations are ridiculous. hard to use for any length of time

Vibration is my complaint with dremel too. It shakes your whole body. I think dremel or multi tool probably has to be heavy with dampers unless you are making very short cuts.Same with reciprocating saw, I bought Ryobi One+ and it's just not heavy enough to cut quickly, probably good for small branches or thin pipes etc. Like other member mentioned Ryobi is good for DIY but it's just not powerful for certain heavy loads. I got the circular saw, if your blade is sharp enough it cuts better than other similar price models.

Update, bought the set with some extra sand paper attachments. Slowly completing the ryobi set of tools with one battery. Any suggestions for storage?

Because Ryobi is kinda trash unless you go brushless, imo. Their brushless beats the big brand brushed options and is a good price point

i bought the hp (brushless) version of this for $60 blemished or refurb on fleabay....llove it...it was. PBLMT50B. so it may have been the 22 or so version still brushless vs brushed is a no brainer imho..... and $10 less to boot.

i have a lot of ryobi tools - all are decent at their price point; the multi-tool is the one that I use the least and regret the most lol

I have brushed and brushless for years. Can't tell a difference and haven't had a problem with a single tool yet. I do notice when I use dewalt or Milwaukee that the ryobi is less powerful in some tools but they get these jobs done.
