The Good...This thing is pretty good on carpets, AMAZING suction. The vacuum part is very good on carpets and hard wood floors.
The Bad.... The mop is not the greatest AND while it detects a carpet it increases the suction power, it does not avoid carpet when the mop attachment is on. And mop just drags, actually mop is pretty bad unless you set it to max water usage (only can be done in app) and then it actually gets rid of streaks, foot prints and very light dirt.
Conclusion... this is one of the best deals at $180. If you have alot of carpet and you really only care about the vacuum... this is amazing. If you have mix of carpet or rugs on hard wood floor I don't think I would get this model.
While the mop goes on carpets, you can set "no go zones" but that just sounds too difficult.
I have all hardwood and I am willing to pay more for a better mop.

I have this model, but with the dock.

Calling this a mopping vac is very generous. It does not have a swirling/agitating mopping mode, it just drags across the floor and leaves streaks of water with cleaning solution.

Again, mopping is very generous.

Vacuuming is good. It is not as powerful as a real vacuum, but it works great at keeping dog hair from accumulating. It has significantly reduced the time we spend vacuuming.

And it hasn't driven itself down the stairs when the basement door has been left open, big plus.

But the Dyson still needs to be occasionally brought out and pushed across the floor.

Is this better than the wyze robot?
My Wyze vacuum died when it fell off of the 2nd floor stairway. So much for LIDAR.

I've used about 4 different vacuum brands: ecovacs, iRobot, Wyze, and another one I can't remember. The Q5 Pro Roborock has been the most solid performer. The dual brush they have makes a difference, especially if you have kids with long hair and random cables lying around. It makes it back to the dock about 95% of the time, and the app shows you the last place it thinks it was, which makes it easier to hunt down.

Mine has a problem with the hardwood to thick rug transition (like a fuzzy animal-type rug) and gets stuck on it every once in a while.

The mop isn't really that useful, but I keep it on just to grab dust.

I'll pick this one up for the upstairs.

I know it is 2025, but to confirm - this item does have a rechargeable battery, right? I was an early adopter of Roomba, but I walked away from it after the frequent expense of replacing the yellow battery.

no self emptying is a dealbreaker?
Nope, the bin is massive (i easily go 2-3 weeks before emptying). This size then fits under a piece of furniture and is not big self-emptying eyesore.

FYI Q5 Pro supports multiple floor plans, though you do have to "carry it upstairs"...

Yes and is lithium ion. This unit blows away Roomba for vacuuming.

Yes, "Carpet Boost" is great for carpets. No mop zones are incredibly easy to do, and only needed to be set once. You shouldn't leave the mop on these after doing a cycle, as they need to be cleaned and dried to prevent bacteria buildup.

I use 2 schedules on mine. We don't have pets or kids so we do a full vacuum clean twice a week, and the other just mopping once a week with the no mop zones setup. It's easy to fill up the water tank and put on the mop before. When mopping I put the water output to max, and the vacuum setting to low.

Great price for the features on this, especially being new

It's too much work to take a small robot up/down the stairs and set it down and press go in the app? How is that more work than manually vacuuming the whole floor? I'm confused

Not OP but using one machine for multiple floors is a pain because it keeps trying and failing to dock when you use it on a different floor than the dock.
Interesting, I haven't had any issues with that in my experience with Roborock over 3 different models. S6 pure, Q5 pro, Q8 Max. As long as it maps the other floors, I can just set it down, does it's job, then comes back to where I put it down. Yes it gives a notification that it can't find the dock, but it's back to where I placed it.

I've had robot vacuums for 5 years I still have an old deebot that works pretty well and I have a robo Rock which is really my favorite brand. I think this is a killer deal and no it doesn't have the suction dock but I don't have those anyway and I'm okay with just cleaning it out it takes a couple minutes. I have to look at it anyway usually to see if there's a lot of dog hair on the brushes so I don't mind. I'm definitely upgrading to have those two brushes as well. I don't need the mop the mop doesn't work very well on most of these anyway so I don't care about that. I'm very happy with my robo rock that I bought 2 years ago this one's going to be for upstairs to replace my older deebot from 5 years ago . I'll tell you this I haven't swept my tile floors in 4 and 1/2 years and it does a better job because it follows an algorithm and it gets every inch of my floor. I absolutely love robot vacuums.

This is the same as the Q5 Pro but at $40 more than the Q5 Pro sold when on sale ($140). Looks like they changed the model number and raised the sale price.

Anyway, this is a fantastic vacuum (dual brush, high suction)! Ignore the mop, it's worthless as a glorified swiffer -- dont even bother attaching it.

If you don't want the expense or the maintenance headache of a mopping & vacuum robot, these vacuum only Roborocks are fantastic deals.

NOTE: Change the suction power setting (you can set it by room). The default value is lower suction to reduce noise but then doesnt suck as well.
This comment needs more love.
All these people saying get the Q8 Max but don't use the mop -- they aren't wrong, but Roborock has a model with no mop and it's the Q5 Pro and it will no doubt be cheaper than this again for Black Friday.

I have the Roborock S5 Max that I use downstairs (tile floors and rugs) and upstairs (all carpeted). I've had it for a few years and it works pretty well, at least on the tiles. Its mop function is a joke and I don't even bother with that anymore. Does this Q8 do a much better job on rugs and carpet? I'll have to Google if I can find the sucking power that compares these 2 models.

What's the best Roborock model that is less than $500 and is good for mopping as well?

I am tempted to get this, but the post above recommending Q5 pro makes me pause.
