Just curious - what makes the NOCO jump boxes better than the $20-30 1000A-2000A jump boxes from other brands?

Which other brands do you speak of? NOCO has been around and is reputable.

Recommended after extensive testing by Project Farm--many cheap units fall far short of their claims. The car care nut suggests they are the best choice for vehicles with sensitive electronics such a hybrids.

I have a NOCO jump pack. Has done the trick every time I have needed it. Jump start a F350 church van with no problem. I end up using it more for other people who are stranded than I do my own vehicle, but it is nice to know its there if I need it.

2150mAh battery? I'm wondering if that's a misprint since I've never heard of a jump starter with such a small battery.
Anyway, I don't believe that Project Farm tested this model. They tested the GBX155 which is Noco's top model. This GB40 their cheapest model.
If you don't need something compact, get the Nexpowfor $50. Much bigger battery, has 60w PD charging in and out, has an air compressor, and ranked highly in the Project Farm test [youtube.com].

As a device you're only using in case of an emergency, you want something reliable. In my experience, my Noco boxes have worked every time I needed them to. If you've got the same confidence in a $20 brand, save yourself some dough.

Helped a guy viewing the house next door to mine start their car once and came in very handle when I lived in an apartment with a garage and my car battery was failing. Now I keep it in my moving fortress of a car with a set of hand tools.

it's probably the battery tech.my past cheapo one worked well enough until i forgot to charge it once for a couple months. apparently whatever battery tech it used stops working if you leave it discharged for a few months.

A similar AstroAI brand booster seems cheaper. Is Nocoboost better brand than AstroAI?

This kinda tools is for emergency. You want something reliable when needed. NOCO brand earns the trust and reputation, unlike other Chinese junks that do not hold charge after a year. I have one purchased in 2018 and still holding charge and working fine.

purchased this in 2020. use it 2x a year. works every darn time. reliable. I purchased a NOCO GBX45 2 years ago and is also solid. The GB40 charges via microUSB and can take a while. GBX45 is USB-C and charges faster. for $60, its cheap insurance on a reliable jump starter
