Bought this for this price from this retailer in October 2023, absolutely no complaints with the sound and app performance aside from one little niggle that has been going on more or less since purchase: every so often (not while in use) this receiver requires me to unplug and replug it in. This happens often enough that I've added a little smart switch so I can turn it off without having to get up (because this happens while not in use I don't notice it's locked up until I've sat on the couch and turned everything on to a black screen). If you are looking at this today and the rz30 (2024) is still available I would probably argue in favor of that for an extra 50% considering all you get for that extra 250, I'm debating replacing this for that but am hoping to hold off for the rz50 (2021) replacement 🤞

Do any of the authorized retailers do out the door pricing anymore if you call? I ordered a tv from beach that way.

Yeah avoid this one. It gets hot, I have a 4300 and 6400 in other places they run great, this unit I had to buy cooling fan and if you crank it it still shuts off. Plus, every now and then I have to do a hard reset on it as no sound comes out, at least the hard reset works.

Does this have a connection for height speakers or is this simply 7.2 older surround format?

I do not own this one but 7.2 implies that there are no height channels. You would need to look for 9.2 or 11.2ch units.

5.2.2 is 7 channels with height and very common, the spec page is very easy to read…

Bought this, cancelled it 5 minutes later, got RZ30. I am very interested in Dirac Live room correction for a challenging room. Looking fwd to RZ30.

Nice deal and frankly priced where it should be
The $1249 MSRP is a joke as it is with D/M products, IMO

Perhaps their large down turn in sales, and new ownership is having them rethink how realistic their pricing strategy is...as there seem to be a lot of deals at 50% ish off MSRP

Everyone and their brother is going to sound bars. The market for this stuff still exists, but it's a fraction of what it once was And they've stopped yearly release; many models (like this 2800) are years old now; in the past they'd refresh yearly or nearly so. All done now.

Especially when they have such in an inflated MSRP( and continued to raise prices) while lacking performance value among competitive models

People were buying Onkyo RZ50s for about the same price as this model was selling for and receiving far more performance for the dollar

But yes, the market is shrinking I do believe
Although the very high end flagship, reference products seem to be doing fine
The products in the middle, not so much
