it does say in the specifications it goes to 1920x1200@60 Hz which makes this a better deal. I'd have to verify if it's one of those pixel density at 720, image at 1080 kind of deals projectors do sometimes. the expensive part seems to be whether or not these chips can natively play at the resolution which is why true 4k projectors cost a kidney.

1920x1200@60 is solid, though. at 120 inches that will still look pretty sharp. could be a better deal than at first glance.

if anyone with more projector knowledge knows, what are the rivals? at this price point I think you're basically battling Amazon no name brands which have zero quality control.

That's just the maximum resolution it can accept; the projector itself is only XGA (1024x768). These are mainly designed for educational or presentation use.

New budget offbrand 4k projectors (pixel shift) start at $600.
Refurbished name brands start at $650 on ebay.
True 4k starts at around $800 refurbished on ebay.
