Amazon seems to be getting flooded with these "new generation" lightweight plastic DC motor fans that are controlled by the same DC motor controller with BT (not Wi-Fi) app. This will render any previously dual-wired ceiling fan setup useless - does not need a separate wire for the light, and cannot be used with any wall mounted speed-control switches. That means the handheld remote control is your sole means of controlling the fan. While the BT app (on the surface) sounds like a nice idea, it's just proving too troublesome/impractical for me to grab my phone, open the app, go to either the light or fan page, to turn on the light or set the fan at a lower speed. While on the SPEED subject, these DC controllers aren't calibrated properly to the fan. The lowest speed setting seem to be too high. So for those installing these in bedrooms and wanting a gentle breeze to sleep at night, it's going to be too high. I am forced to run the fan BACKWARDS (winter mode) as a workaround - and my existing Wi-Fi wall mounted (Alexa connected) fan switch is now useless. If you just need a simple efficient fan that is quiet, do not mind the seemingly always-on-high settings, this fan is for you. In fact, there's even a cheaper option with a coupon now! $35 for a 42" version! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0DBHKMWV1

None - because of the DC motor which requires you to use the DC motor controller that comes with the fan; no external speed controls are possible. If you try to vary the speed of the fan by varying the supply voltage (such as using external controllers such as Caseta and others), the DC motor controller will not respond, and will eventually burn out.

I bought two of these for outside. They're definitely cheap, and I know if the LEDs die on them I won't be able to find replacements. They don't move much air even on speed 6, but they're fine for what I need them for. It is nice that they integrate with Home Assistant (but only if you have your BLE less than 15-20ft from the fans, I had to build a BLE Proxy), and you can pair multiple fans to a single remote.

Anyone know how much it would cost to get this installed? Thanks.
most installers will charge $100-$150 per fan.

Ceiling fan is not as hard as you think. Just need the right electrical box to retrofit. Lowes / HD has them, I just did mine this year for the first time and it's easy, just turn off and make sure the line is not LIVE!
more fun if the line is LIVE. A little electric jolt will wake you up faster than coffee or energy drinks

I have a decades old Minka Aire remote fan that is making whirring sounds a lot. I need a flush mount or that much low profile. Small ish room. Will this work as a replacement?

Bought this last time only because I wanted to see what DC motor is like(Lot quieter than regular AC(???) motors). I have it on 2nd FL flex room and it was simple replace existing ceiling light with this fan. I guess I installed it OK because it doesn't wobble like some has mentioned. I wouldn't know if this fan looks cheap because I never had any fan that was considered to me higher priced but my wife likes it so that's all it matters.

Here comes the CON

1) Single power line connection. - All my other fans in my house have 2 power source (1 for the light and 1 for the fan) and 2 separate wall switch. I knew this going in and thought it wouldn't bother me but it does.

2) Remote control - I have all my other fans connected to Samsung smarthing with matter/ZWAVE connectivity with Alexa voice control. I can turn on/off either the light or fan with Alexa voice command and Smartthing phone app. Looked into soldering in a zwave receiver but did not fine any yet. I guess I'm back to getting off on my fat ass and looking for a remote to turn on/off this fan.

3) Light - HUGE CON for me. Not as bright as others in my house and the light is more focused into smaller area under the fan. Light doesn't spread wide enough to cover some corners of the room where the regular ceiling light was able to. Have to get table stand light to cover those darker areas.

shocking. you mean a slickdeals staffer would post garbage for us to buy?!

of all the things im going to cheap out on... a cieling fan is not one of them. its a lot of work to reinstall if its a bad product, and im not trusting some temu factory to make a motor i hang above my living quarters, let alone make a product that is nicely balanced..
Lay down the facts then post spend a little more for this and you'll save yourself a headache later.

I just replaced one of my mom's ceiling fans with this one. I was surprised at how simple it was. It uses a single wire to power both the fan and the light, which eases installation, but also means you won't be able to control light and fan independently using an existing wall-mounted switch. (It also means that, if you have a ceiling light without fan, or a fan without light, now you can have both without running any new wires!) It moves a lot of air, it's very quiet (for now, at least), seems perfectly balanced, and the brightness of the light is adequate.

The trick is to find the temu or aliexpress store this came from and buy it there for even less money.
I recently did that for something, seller never shipped item. It auto canceled after I submitted a cancel request. Not sure if I was ever going to get it.

I've bought tons of stuff from aliexpress and temu. 95% of it shows up without any issues.

what they sell for $400 has literally zero to do with this fan or this discussion. a cheap $400 fan doesnt suddenly make this fan better, or change the fact that a quality smartfan will cost more than $55.

buying a garbage $400 fan is being stupid because you are droping a ton of money and ending up with garbage..

im not telling someone to spend $400. im telling someone that to buy a quality smartfan they will have to spend more than $55.

You really don't want your ceiling fan light shining against the ceiling. The rotating fan blades will create an unenjoyable strobing effect. For the same reason - you don't want can lights too close to a ceiling fan either.

Nice in for two. I have been needing to upgrade our bedroom fan and these are so cool I'm going to get a second one for the living room room.

no fans with normal lights are better, 1/3 of your room from the ceiling to the fan light will be dim
